TBI computer Gurus please help

My brother has just got done building a kick *** 305 that should have enough goodies to make around 300hp (we hope) I think it will be more like 275, but any who. I have a TTA and just got the Turbo link scanning software for it. IT sayes that it will work with soime TBI cars and trucks with the K engine code. NOw from what I know about other GM products I am assuming this is found in the older Caprices and trucks, say early 90's. We want to use the scannin software in my Brothers TBI to tune everything up properly and make sure everything is running correctly so do we need to change computers? This software reads throught the AlDl port and is a real time analizer.
If we need to switch computers is it worth it? Which computer do we find, a 350 trucks and put a custom fast chip in or what.
Le ma know what you think is best because we are unsure about what all good or bad can happen.

Past Thirdgen:
86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!

Yo, Kyle e-mail me, we gotta get together some time for lunch or the weekend, maybe go to the track.
About your brothers maro, you will need a 7747 ecm. It's the same as the 8746 but it doesn't have an IAT (intake air temp) sensor. I think there are a few wires that need to be switched, but I've also been told that you don't need to bother and that it's a direct plug in. I'm doing my own chip programming and I could help your brother out if you need a custom chip burned. You just gotta cart my a$$ around while my car is acting up.
The 7747 ecm is really popular and that is the only way for that software to work. Our ALDL (8746 ecm) has a funky code and nobody has bothered to impliment it into their scanning software because it wasn't very popular. Now that the "hack" for the 8746 came out I've been working with it and getting a good handle. Hopefully Craig over on the eprom board will include the 8746 with his next software release.

If the car is a 89-92 you can probably use the Turbo Link on it. I would try setting Turbo Link to an 89-90 Caprice and see what happens.

Since you changed the engine radically from stock you will need custom chip work.

The 7747 *does* plug right in. I did one last weekend.

Brent, thanks for joggin my memory, I almost forgot about the caprice. The Turbo Link website says it works with the caprice, if that's true, then it has to work with the 8746. It it does, Kyle, we definatly need to get together sometime.

It works with the Caprice. I use it on my 89. I think TL just specifies 5.7L TBI though. I don't think it make any difference what vehicle it's in. I used it on my 91 p/u. And I use it on my 92 Astro van, on the 4.3L TBI setting of course.
