I got a 89 TBI motor (I put in my 86 T/A). I finally got it back together and running but I have a question about the air cleaner. I pulled the motor out of a 89 Camaro and parted the car myself so I know I have all the parts, but it has been a slow process or fixing this car.

I tried to put what I think is the stock air cleaner back on but it does not fit. I am pretty sure it is the stock air cleaner because it has the hole in the bottom for the sensor. The 86 Carb'ed air clearner that came off the T/A did not have that hole. But when I attempt to put the air cleaner on, it hits the cable on top ( I think that cable is for cruise control).

So is there a spacer that goes between the TBI and the air cleaner on that engine? My 89 truck has the same set up and has a spacer there so should the Camaro motor?

If so I gotta find it, garage is kind of a mess right now.

The spacer goes between the tbi & the air cleaner.

 

Ok so there is a spacer then. About how tall is it? I have to sort through all the parts in the garage and find it then.
