are you interested in a sweet sounding idle or power?
that is basically teh decision you are asking about. the flat tappet set up woudl also require a new set of pushrods, longer sinc ethe lifters are physically smaller.
if you are interested in what is probly the best 305 cam that woudl create a little bit of a lope at idle you are gonna hafta pay though. trick flow, yes the head people, have a couple of grinds available. they are pretty sweet looking, but theyare pricy, around $280, but model tfs-31402000(summit part number). lift is .452/.465 with a dur of 214/220 at .050. it has a lobe seperation of only 110 degrees, this will require a chip, but you will get a lot of combustion pressure and a nice lopey idle.

I think a LT1 B-body cam has that seperation if I remember right. Might need 1.6 rockers to get that lift though.

I ran the 2050 in my 92 truck for 4 years. Had a lifter trash the cam so I converted over and put the LT1 in. The LT1 cam made the truck pull much harder than the 2050 and didn't throw the computer into fits with the "Lopey" idle. The idle really wasn't that lopey put the idle was jumpy due to the lobe separation. I would recommend sticking with the roller cam and if you want lopey go with a LT4 hot cam on 1.5 rockers instead of the 1.6's. That will keep your lift down to a useable level.

maybe the techs at slp dont know what theyre doin, not sure why they would make and sell firehawks consistently if that was the case http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...RTNUMBER=51002

true but 340 bucks for a cam is steep. u can prob get just about the same cam froma diff compalny for cheaper. bhut anyways let me know how it performs. and i do give u props for not usin the lt1 cam that every1 is obsessed with. wut the deal with puttin a stock cam in your car. thats why they all run 15's lol good luck man
