Anybody know where the MC solenoid is? As far as I can find the mixture control solenoid is open or grounded. I'm checking the net for pix. ....
your car must be running very rich if you're getting errors about the mixture control solenoid.
the m/c solenoid is inside the carberator, you've got to pull the airhorn to see it. need a dwell meter and some other special tools to calibrate the new m/c solenoid after installing it.

For a pic of the top of a q-jet, go to this post , and it's the turquoise connector near the lower left.
For a pic of the unit itself, go to quadrajet.com , it's the one at the top.

Well on the TBI there was only one thing that looks like a solonoid. When I pulled the clip back to unplug it the clip just snaped off
crusty plastic. Well the wires seem to be in place. I have another TBI laying around with that solonoid on it. If its the solonoid I'm glad I have a spare. Those prices didnt look to good up there. Time to check for some errors on the way to the parts store for some brakes.

Code 23 Manifold air temperature (MAT) sensor. Low temp detected. Stupid code and one that i usually ignore because it happens all the time when i take the air cleaner off and forget to hook the sensor back up.

Hmm... This doesnt look good.
Low temperature at manifold air temperature sensor OR
Throttle position sensor error
That came off https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/faq/thirdgen.shtml
If its a low temp at the manifold error do you think this might have something to do with the open element air cleaner. It drilled a hole in the bottom to put the sensor in. I Dont think that should be an issue though. I dont know it might be.
I put in a new TPS and the error doesnt seem to come in as often. When it does come in it doesnt have that much of a impact on the loss of horse as it did before. How can I test the TPS sensor?

for the vin e, im pretty sure the code 23 just stands for the MAT sensor error. That would have an impact on your performance because the computer uses that to adjust the air/fuel mixture for temperature. Just try putting in another sensor and checking the connector to make sure its making good contact. That should fix it.

Re: Got a error code 23, MC (mixture control solenoid).
There are only a limited # of codes possible; 2 digits. There aren't enough for every single fault in every single OBD1 application to have its own unique unduplicated code. The same code means different things depending on what system it's associated with. In your case, if your car was carbed originally, it probably means that the ECM isn't seeing a MCS out there, because your current carb doesn't have one.
