Not sure about the cam, but your grammer should receive modification too. J/K

I would say that cam would work pretty well with your setup. I cannot say I am real familiar with the cam itself, but I know the XE cams are great anyway and the lift and duration it would fall into would work nicely. as far as power gains, I could not say with any accuracy, but I would bet you will notice it.

I will say you would notice it more if you do even a modest home port job on the heads. Good luck and we (or at least I) would be interested in knowing its results. Happy power building!

thanks man for the reply! i am going to order this cam...and then while in the process i'll port then plenum, runners, heads, and maybe the base. unfortunatly there isn't a single dyno tester on the island and the 1/4mile track is about a 3hr drive away and it closed the past weekend., so i woun't be able to tell you any spec but i will tell how much i noticed....or how many more feet i can lay two strips of rubber..

Before you do, may I suggest the 268/276 High energy computer comp cam with .464 lift. I ran this cam on my bone stock tbi 350 with headers. The thing rocked, and idled fine because of the 114 lob sep. My truck ran a 15.0 1/4 mile pass with it. I would say go with this one. I made more bottom end power than the stock cam, and way more up top.

For a 305 engine with stock heads, the cam that you're looking at sounds pretty good. I just got the comp Extreme Energy 487-490 cam for my 350 crate with the vortec heads, but I havn't put the car back on the road yet so I don't know how much more power i'm gonna have with it yet. But with the stock heads on a 305 I wouldn't think they could handle much more lift than that. And a stock stall converter is 1600 RPMs.

the 268 is too much for a 305. and the XE series should be fine. they run 110-112 lobe sep.

good to hear you are porting too. just dont go overboard. remember you cannot put the metal back on after you remove it. also, if you go to large, the flow will not increase over peak and you will lose intake velocity. take your time and do it correctly. I am sure you will be pleased with the results.

but let us know what you think. later.

All I can add is that a 114 lob sep is going to be more computer friendly.

110 is fine with good tuning, for stock chip it may be a little rough at idle. THis is due to "self egr'ing" from valve overlap. 110 will make more power from 3000+ but less at 3000- than the same came with 114.
