700r from a 6 cyl van???
Don't use that tranny!!! It has fewer clutch packs in it and it's valve body is calibrated to shift for a 6cyl. You will not be happy and you will break it. Call a trans shop and ask them, if you don't believe me.
ALL 700r4 have the same amount of cluth pacs.
my 700r4 came out of a 6 banger van, when i orders the rebuild kit i orderd it for a vette and got the same amont of clutch pacs, then i upgrade to 9 cluthc pacs. you are right about the valve body thought, but a shift kit can cure that

All I will say is this, when my 700 died not long ago I came across a good deal on a 700r4 from an Astro 4.3li, this tranny was a rebuilt one that a guy I know had at his shop. (Local tranny shop)when I advised him what I had intended on putting it in he talked me out of it saying I would be extrememly unpleased with it. I did buy another tranny from him a TH350 for a few hundred $$ less than the 700R4. So I do not know, but I would advise against it if at all possible.
Just my .02.

going to be pretty much same internally. only a few differences. i didn't see you ask for opinions on this which is why i didn't give it initially. if you need one and it's available, go for it.
