Anybody ever use "Engine RESTORE?"
I see this stuff all the time. It comes in a silver can, and supposedly can help restore proper compression.
Anybody ever used it? Or would you even use it?

I've used a couple cans of that in the LG4 at various points in it's life...it currently has 394,xxx kms (approx 250,000 miles) under it's valve covers, the heads have never been off it, and a compression test last fall showed anywhere from 185 to 210 psi among it's cylinders.
It can't be bad stuff...

Ugnmph, If the original owner used flush once in a while. Oh well.
Some of the stuff works some makes it worse. Most of the junk on the market labeld as engine restorer is just engine honey 40w+ made to thicken the oil enough so it stops smoken and seals the rings a little better.

My brother used it on his 160,000 mile 4.3L Blazer. It had bad compression on one cylinder (down about 25%) due to the former owner never changing the plug on that cylinder because it was "hard to reach." Oh boy.
It would get compression within 10PSI on that cylinder for a few months and then it would "go away" again. So he changed oil often and always added a can of that stuff at every oil change. Got him from 105K to 160K pretty good, when he sold it. And he beat on that pooor thing mercilessly- towing a trailer that was WAY overweight through Arizona deserts on a regular basis.
In short- it works, but expect no miracles (at least not long term miracles).

....besides if anyone expects more than that from an $8 can you just pour into your oil they are dreaming!
ok....well maybe with the exception of seafoam (when you do the THREE step)....that stuff does work and does have the clostest thing to "permanent" results you have ever seen out of a can!!
