i wouldnt recommend going that fast when the engine is cold...that is unless you dont like your engine.

Chris,

First, I'll add my vote to BB's. Why would you run that fast when the car is cold? not only does the engine oil have to be warmed to lubricate effectively, but the transmission and rear axle oils don't do very well until they have had a chance to warm up and get moving. Oil pressures in the transmission are exceptionally high with cold oil. Pistons are loose in their bores until they are at operating temperature, and oil that is supposed to splash/spurt up to piston pins and oil control rings isn't doing that until the engine is warmed. Lifters are not getting adequate flow, yada, yada...

Second, if you have nylon belted tires, the cold tires will have a "memorized" flat spot from where they were parked the night before. The tires don't get fully round until the tire carcass is warmed and pliable enough to flex a bit.

I'm having the same problem at about 45+ MPH.

Could it possibly be a U-joint? I know I have one that's bad, and I think that's part of what's wrong with mine (It vibrates before 80 MPH though)

I also think my tires develop a bit of a flat spot after sitting, because it's sometimes worse after sitting a few days, and worse on blacktop. They're Firestone SH30's (I just hope the tread doesn't separate!)

My car also vibrates. If the vibration is in your seat it's either rear wheel balance of drive train. If it's in the steering wheel it's either front wheel balance or alingment. To test alingment let go of the wheel and lightly push the breaks it will pull either direction.
My problem is the drive shaft . I have a dent in mine. It really throws a lot of vibration at high speeds. I plan on putting on a 1LE drive shaft when I get the money. Good Luck Jim

JimBow,

I regularly sell used thirdgen alum shafts on this site. Unfortunely, I only have one one at the moment, and it's missing a balance weight, which means it would require balancing. In every other respect, it's quite nice. Should you or anyone else be interested, please e-mail me. $75 shipped, money order, certified check or PayPal.
