Port/polish 416's
I am just about to start a port/polish on a set of 416's that I got my hands on and plan to put onto the L03.
Any suggestions/words of wisdom/experience as to some areas on these heads which I should/shouldnt really touch etc.....
BTW...this is going to be my 1st experience with porting.
Thanks,
Dave

The heads they show in their illustrations are 416's.
Vader posted some port templates not too long ago. Look around for them.
Otherwise, stick to the advice given in the instructions and you won't have any problems.

Yeah, it takes a while. I think it took me around 1/2 hour for every exhaust port and about 1.5-2 hrs for each intake. My heads are the machine shop right now getting cut for 1.94 intake valves, 3-angle valve job & milling a tad. I cant wait to get them on the car
Along with SittingBulls threads, here is another thread with some good pics:

I'd recommend getting a couple of carbide burrs as well, like a 1/4" ball and "Christmas tree". A long stem tree would be helpful in some areas as well.
I practiced on one cylinder of an 081, then went to work on the Worlds. I spent 10 hours getting both heads done (it seemed to take less to clean up the Worlds than it did the factory head). Grinding dust everywhere. I sure hope you're following their recommendations about goggles, dust masks, hearing protection, and gloves.

Hey guys I was wondering about how much flow do you think you gain on these heads just from a 3 angle valve job and adding the 1.94 and 1.5 valves on these heads? I was just wondering because I am trying to compare my set of 416's to a set of numbers I saw on one of those links. Oh and sorry I am not trying to high jack this thread.

i will let you guys no in a bit , i ported and polished my 416's they look great , just got them back from the machine shop where they enlarged 1.94 seats and did a 3 angle valve job , they look great i can;t wait till the mechanic puts them in the car
also if your doing this job put in new valves ,springs, reatainers .ect , no point using old stuff
