What blue is correct for 82 engine?

GM Corporate Blue is whats it should be right? The only colors I can find (easy) are duplicolor brand GM blue and Chevy blue. Neither of these seems to be correct and the GM blue isnt labeld GM Corporate Blue just GM Blue. Its it either of these

I painted my 305 GMC blue, but I don't know whether it's the same as "corporate" blue or not....

The guys over at the history board'll know. Probably have a paint code too knowing them.

Screw that, come over to the dark side... paint it black!

I used Corporate BLue I believe. Painted my motor and enginebay that color....looks 10 times better than the horrible white and dark blue peeling away.

I did a general site search and dident come up with anything positive. I look at old peices of engines with factory paint and it just seems like it has more of a sea green tinge then in the pic Confuzed1 posted, which is the same color I did get and made a test coat with.

I would go black or Chevy orange but I was thinking it would kinda be classic to paint the 454 Corporate Blue and top it off with the 305 valve cover stickers. From time to time I do get a bit but it will fool alot of people who dont know any better.

Well, if you want more of a "greenish" tint, how about Mopar blue?? My 400:

You know I think it is the factory color blue after all. I ran over to the shop and took a look at the dry paint. It appears to be close in color to some of the paint on the feild pump project. It's hard to say for sure since it is a 20 year old engine with 20 year old grime but there is a portion on the pan that seems to match what the duplicolor dried to.

GAG!!!!! How plain! not to mention almost imposible to notice any type of leak from the engine. I know, I know, your engine kicks glutius maximus and would never leak, but others may not be so lucky.

I remember the days when I wanted to keep everything original, I actualy fount the correct color blue at western auto years ago.

I would suggest going with GM orange red paint. It comes in one can and has a nice orange musclecar look.

Actually I think black looks nice! Goes nice with chrome...

I'll be the first to admit that it'll make finding leaks harder, but ALOT of engines came that color originally - even my 305 HO!!

Just to let you know, thats not Chrysler blue. It may be cheap auto parts store "Chrysler blue", but is nothing close to the original Chrysler turquoise, or Chrysler blue for that matter. If you go to the dealer and buy a can of engine paint, youll see what I mean.

Well....yeah. It was listed as Mopar blue, and you're right, it was auto parts store paint. I don't think I'd ever go to a dealer and actually spend bigger dollars just to have the exact "original" paint, unless I was attempting to do a 10-point resto - on a Dodge....lol...
