Funny you forget the R as I assume you mean what kind of mileage does the typical 350R here get.
While my only input would be my carb'ed 350X gets 15-18 hauling around 4000lbs
Doesn't really matter how I drive, it drinks it down.
Might wanna include carb or FI in results.

Yea it depends on alot of things. Mainly what carb (of FI) system your running, what kind of fuel pressure you get. What rear gear, tranny??? Alot of things come into play. My car was running dual 650 carbs, with holley electric fuel pump, it got from one gas station to the next. Now its running a q-jet, gets me from one end of town to the other and back, on about 1/2 tank of gas. Its overdrive auto, and 373 rear.

I'm running a crate 350 with with a 750 Edelbrock 4 barrel (need to rebuild and install the Q-jet), T5 transmission, and a 3.73 rear end. I also drive her like I stole her. Result: about 10 miles/gallon. She is definately not the daily driver.

Motor specs in sig, but in short, a 350 with a compxe268, no overdrive, 3.23 gears, and ported 305 heads, with a q-jet and performer RPM manifold, 275/60/R15 tires out back.
20 MPG on highway
probably around 12MPG in town.
Keep in mind, that's a 3000+ RPM cruise speed which is killer for mileage, and i've got more tuning to do on the q-jet yet.
Nice thing is, I don't have to downshift to pass someone, just roll onto it, and i'm blowing past them like they're standing still

Mine is bad to worse...
To tell you the truth i dont even want to know my MPG!
One thing i can tell you is it has no problem gobbling up a couple hundred in gas in a night
Oh well, gotta pay to play!

Its not too bad if im just putting around or just driving to work and back, then its real easy on gas. this motor has got alot of bottom end grunt so it doesnt take much throttle at all for granny driving!
Edit: holy crap, just did a quick calc...
Just driving to work and home, 5km each way x4 per day. i get about 10 days worth on a tank...
5km x 4 = 20km a day x 10 = 200km
200km = 120m +/-
120m / 16gal tank = 7.5mpg
And thats when its really, really easy on gas!!!!

So, Fast355, Are you planning on dropping your engine into a 3rd gen or are you going to keep it in your van? What are your plans for it?

I have a 350 that is going 396 on my engine stand. Dart 180 heads. Nice roller cam, etc. One of the other is going to go in a F-body or G-body. I really like the mid 80s Monte Carlo SS. I also have a soft spot for the early 90s RS Camaros. The Van is here to stay. Its not going anywhere anytime soon.

So I was hoping to find some reinforcement that my new purchase's (87 IROC-Z Z28 w/ a 350) 9mpg city and 12 highway was a problem that could be easily fixed. Seems to be pretty normal. Crap

Re: 350 Owners: What is you gas mileage?
My L98 with TBI, 5 speed, 3.73's .... averages on fillups 18-19mpg, I've never done city or highway MPG checks but this is what it comes up to on each fillup. But I am about 50-50 city and highway

Re: 350 Owners: What is you gas mileage?
I guess I get great milage compared to most people. Going to and from work (75% highway, 25% city), I get right around 20mpg. This is from a fairly modified tpi 350, 700r4 and 3.23 gears. It has enough power that I once out-accelerated an LS1 6speed Z28 at slow and high speeds.
