Really mad at my Z 28

Ok guys this girl needs some help. I got a 91 z28 TPI 5.7 . He is really starting to get on my last nerve. I changed the coil ,ign module, plugs and wires, rotor, and it was running fine now last night it started pulling S**t again. I start it and if I dont keep feathering the pedal it dies. Car wont idle and when I break I got to put it in neutral and feather the gas at each light. I get it out on the highway and it hauls a**. If I run it hard as hell it will act right but it dont if its setting still. Any answers will help!

Check the fuel pump? That's a little work though.

Re: Really mad at my Z 28

You've gone through a lot of electrical work, so it would be better now to concentrate on fuel delivery issues. The fact that you have to feather the gas at stops and it runs hard when your going seems to suggest a fuel problem as well. There's a lot of possible issues, but fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel injectors are the likely places to start.

Check to see if the IAC passages are plugged and if the solenoid is working. Clean the passages and replace the solenoid if its gone bad.

If its not the IAC it might be a vacuum leak. The best way to find one is to blow smoke into the engine through a vacuum hose and watch to see where it comes out. You need to remove the airduct and tape off the mouth of the throttle body and then use a very bright light to search for smoke escaping. I just used a cigar.

Anyone think it might be the CTS?

Re: Really mad at my Z 28

Whats the CTS? My son found the end of the O2 sensor is loose and you can wiggle the end like it might be broke. After my son wiggled the end it would idle. Also I just had it in the shop and had the gaskets on the headers replaced and maybe they knocked it loose...car has been acting up after getting the exaust leak fixed! What ya all think. Im about ready to to send this Z packing...My 86 never gave me the trouble this one has. She was a good ol girl.

Re: Really mad at my Z 28

CTS = coolant temp sensor (for the ECM, not the guage)

If playing with the O2 sensor wiring seems to fix it, and it started happening after the exhaust manifolds were off, you may have found your problem. Replace the O2 sensor and/or repair the wiring and see what happens.
