Vette L98 and LT1 for one
Is only a half tray that fits in the pan sump ; not full length like aftermarket

I believe the Z/28 and most of the Corvette engines had the cheezy factory oil baffle. No other applications were expected to spin fast enough to be worth the extra 65 cents of sheet metal.

My 1976 Corvette with the L48 did not have a windage tray. My take on it is that the HP versions of the small block engines generally had them. They do require different main cap bolts with the mounting studs so the cost may have been a shade more than $.65

Does a windage tray:
The early Z28s came with them, for whatever reason. This pan http://sdparts.com/details/gm-performance-parts/360450 with this tray http://sdparts.com/details/gm-performance-parts/3927136. There are better trays however; I have used both Milodon and Moroso ones in that pan.
Personally I think Apeiron's cost estimate is a little bit generous. I'd estimate less than $0.25 in today's dollars of incremental cost increase. But hey... look at the list above, and think about if YOU owned a company, would YOU spend $0.25, or ANY amount, on making your product, if it didn't accomplsih AT LEAST ONE of those things?
- Improve a car's gas mileage?
- Improve warranty claims rates?
- Increase sales?
- Increase service profits?

I don't even use one. Using a deep sump pan and keeping the oil level lower so there's still enough oil for the engine, the crank doesn't get anywhere near the oil in the pan.

I guess I should have posted this in the History Forum. I'm not looking to find one, I have a few in my garage, I just wanted a list of what GM put them on.
