Re: Throttle Bodys?

Im not sure ive seen anybody make there throttle body stick out.... Do you mean putting a Cold Air Intake on the car? Rather than leaving the stock air box and filter on it?

Re: Throttle Bodys?

You are talking about this, right?

http://ls1tech.com/forums/attachment...ase-a497_1.jpg

But theres alot of benifits of having a CAI on your car. The CAI can suck in more air, most are better quality filters, some get the filter further from the engine and some have a heat barrier so that the air it sucks in is colder AND more dense (better results), most (if not all) are reuseable- you just wash it with a cleaning oil and your good to go,and you get better MPG too. So more power AND better fuel economy. Theres no down-side to it.

Every car i have or have ever had has or has had one. I had a 93 toyo camry, just your plain jane 4cyl, all stock. I put a spectre (i didnt want to spend the big bucks for the K&N on this car) and the power was noticably better, but the fuel economy was incredibly better. It was like a whole different world. And everything else was stock. And again, this was NOT a K&N filter, which is a far superior filter performance and mpg wise.

I havent gotten the K&N's for my iroc yet, but i will be soon. This and the exhaust upgrade and it will make my already very powerful 5.7 tpi engine ALOT more powerful. I also plan to upgrade the ign system, after those three relativly simple things it will be a beast! Ill need tires every other week

Re: Throttle Bodys?

Its very simple. It depends greatly on your budget tho. Some of these things can cost $200+. I personally couldnt spend that much on it, id feel like an idiot. Plus, i couldnt afford it lol. But to install it all you have to do is remove the air filter box, the air ducting, and replace it with the new CAI. You can buy new ducting, or just use the original ducting with the new K&N conical filter at the end. The cone will go pretty much in the same spot the air box was, unless you decide to do otherwise. Its pretty straight forward tho lol you shouldnt have any problems with it.

I should say that there are certian stock setups that it would be COUNTERPRODUCTIVE to do a cone CAI on. For example, my 350TPI. The box stock setup is very good, just putting K&N box-stock replacement filters in will be better than running the cone setup because the 350TPI has a great ram air setup already! Not many cars are like this tho, in fact, most arent. And you can aways make the conical setup go into the ram air. But on my engine there is a way to improve it a bit, and i plan to do it, but it doesnt involve the conical filters.

Re: Throttle Bodys?

Oh ok. I dont know much about your V6 engine to be honest, but im pretty sure thats the stock setup, right?

What i would do is look at where the ducting goes from under the filter (if anywhere). If it goes somewhere, where? If goes to somewhere thats exposed to the air being pushed into the engine bay as the car is being driven, its a "ramair" system. How good of one, i dont know.

Again, i dont really know anything about your engine, but by looking at your intake it looks like it would be easy to put a conical filter on it, and definetly a good idea HP wise. Dont hold me to that tho, like i said i really dont know for sure because im not familiar with it. Youll have to look at it yourself and decide what to do. Or, if you know someone with the same setup ad engine, ask them what they did for an idea.

Re: Throttle Bodys?

yes car is completely stock, down to the oil filter (jk) but that was because my brother never did much to it except kill it, now its in my hands and i want to make it one of the best from the west. slowly but surely.
