I was going to say to fabricate your own spanner wrench that will engage 2 oil holes in the base of the filter.
But if you ripped all the metal from the filter down to it's base, then I suggest heating what is left to melt the rubber gasket.

You nick that engine block and you'll have an oil leak forever. The centerpiece is replaceable if you damage it.

The filter is held in place by the rim clamping against the engine block as the center threads in. All you need to do is disrupt the structure anywhere between the center and the rim and it will lose clamping force.

Re: 88 gta can't get my fing oil filter off help

Get it down to where it's nothing but the metal plate that forms the top of the filter. Use a hammer - a BFH - and an equally BF cold chisel with a sharp edge, to persuade it gently and lovingly that it has suddenly become A Good Idea for it to rotate counterclockwise.

No need to tear anything up besides the filter. No chance of doing so, even. Really.

Can't see how this is even an opportunity for a solution, much less a problem.

Re: 88 gta can't get my fing oil filter off help

I had one do that to me once. Since I know these engines well, I drilled 2 x 1/2" holes through the metal plate in line with the bolts holding the adapter on. Removed the bolts and pulled it off. Once it was off what was left of the metal easily twisted off. Re-installed the filter adapter with a new gasket and was good to go.
