Got beat by a Mazda MX3 V6

I was cruisin' last night when a white Mazda Precidia (V6) get next to me... I already saw this one in the city before and it was smoking like hell but now it seemed fine, so I ask the guy if he rebuild the engine and he said yes but did not do any modifications. So he ask if I wanna race. I say: "yes let's do it for fun". (They are 3 in the car by the way) The Light turn green, I took the jump, I have let's say 3 cars by 80km/h, but now he begin to come back, and by 135km/h he was passing me! What the ****?! I have a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA with a 305 TPI, auto transmission, 3.27 gears and no modifications at all... His car was manual, but man, I'm in shock... I beat my friend's GTA last week by about 4 cars and he have the same setup has me but with a 3.73 and a couple of mods but I think he made something wrong 'cause I rip him bad. Sorry for my bad english... I just can't believe it, and some people that know this guy said it was stock only the engine is rebuilt. My car is in very good running condition it runs like new.

Either you lost a cylinder during that race, or he's pretty heavy modded. The engines in those "bug" cars are a joke.

I don't know, it sound pretty stock... I was in first until he was reaching the end of his 3rd. At that time he began to pass me. I will ask him next time if it's really stock he seems to still rexpect my car. He said he had an harder time beating Mustang GT than me. Oh well

Well you do have the peanut cammed TPI. They had one of the worst top ends for TPI cars.

I think it is funny that they are like 1.6L V6 in the MX6 or MX3. If he had a rebuild, he probally had a rebuild with forged parts and could have sprayed. I dont think that TPI falls so flat on its face that an MX3 just makes up 4 cars and pulls more.

Maybe it's not stock indeed. I need to find out 'cause I don't feel right gotting beat by a MX3 V6... I beat lot of Honda Civic SI modified a little and other cars but I can't beat a Precidia lol. Well, in the end he got me so I should admit he have a faster car than me. But it's frustrating

Wow, nice lookin ride man! I'd say he's got more under the hood than he is saying. But, if he wasn't a ***** about it, just ask him and see what's up.

Naaws, deffinetely Naaws. I got beat like that by a Prelude. We got on the freeway at the same time, I was in 3rd doing about 100mph and he was a good 100feet on back of me. All of a sudden this car flies by like I wasn't even moving. I have to admit, for a moment I felt like something was wrong w/my car. I figured it had to be Naaws. He went by me at at least 130mph.

Yeah don't worry I know where the pedal is, and trust me, it was to the floor! My car is in mint condition, I have run against one of my friend with a 305 TPI 1988 GTA automatic and I was passing him like he was standing still... And he have less mileage than me! So I think my GTA 305 is running like it should...

Car: 92 mazda mx3
Engine: 1.8L ford escort gt engine
Transmission: 5 speed, stock escort gt tranny with stock clutch
i think maybe you should ask him what motor he has under the hood.i have a 94 mx3 gs(1.8L v6) and a modified 92 mx3 with a stock ford escort gt engine and tranny in it..and the little 1.8 L four cylinder escort motor can make that little mazda haul way better than a stock v6.both motor have the same mods and both have been rebuilt.and clearly a stock v6 isn't enough ot beat any good running v8.but..there is a stock mazda motor that can make the little mx3's run a good 13 on the quarter mile if they can get traction.maybe check to see if he has the KLZE.then you wont have to feel so bad.
