Unfortuntely no. Anyway I think they would ride on the inside lane of the highway like the Bentleys & Rolls Royces I see. I dont think they know the speed limit is 55 not 35.

I read up on the new t-bird in a few of the car mags. They are not built for speed, but more as a "cruiser". Personally, I like that the big 3 are beginning to lean towards earlier body styles. t-bird, pt cruiser, ssr; not to mention the Charger concept. I would SOOO love to have one of those!

Great Point! Reminds me of the time I bought my friends 82 z28 for $150 to use for the wheels and the intake/carb. I was joy-riding it on the way home(before dismemberment and then scrapping it), and a '01 4.6L GT pulls next to me at a light. Stupid kid revving at me with a backwards hat driving a car his parents probably paid $30k for. The moral of the story is that he got his butt handed to him by a $150 multi-colored junker. Bet daddy got an earful that night about how he needed to buy him a camaro next. -Randy

P.S.- Don't know what an '02 T-Turd looks like, where can I see a good pic?

The PT Cruiser is a fugly yuppie car, it's as bad as an SUV... Doesn't say nearly as much as a fully restored '32 Model A with suicide doors... The T-bird looks like a tin wind up toy... Wouldn't mind seeing the dodge charger return, but some of these cars just look like *** . I would love to beat down an '02 T-bird.

I would like the prowler and pt crusier a whole lot better if they actual put V8's in them instead of a V6. No one in there right mind builds a hot rod a puts a V6 in it so why did chrysler?
As for the t-bird it could be a cool car if they slapped the cobra engine in it, or better yet come out with a dual overhead cam version of the 5.4l. But that would make to much sense for ford to do. For that kind of cash the car should @ least be faster than a mustang.

I saw a concept prowler with the 4.7L V8 (from Grand Cherokee) under the hood. I cant say that I would have picked the 4.7 (I'd like to see 5.9 ), but its certainly an improvement over the 3.5 V6. For the record, I am not a fan of all the "retro" styling going on that simply hides the fact that the car you are buying is a piece of sh*t. I think people want something thats "different" so they go out and buy a pt cruiser, or t-bird. Then they kick themselves when they see 4 cars just like thiers on the way home from work. Or more likely next to theirs in the repair shop.

peace

The '02 T-Bird is definitely not built for speed. It's got a 3.8L V8, that puts out somewhere in the neighborhood of 230-240 hp. With that sort of displacement, I'd imagine it doesn't make much torque. Personally, I probably wouldn't own one if it was given to me...it's ugly, and it comes riced out straight from the factory.

IMO the PT Cruisers (PT Looooser?) are butt-ugly piles of crap. You might as well just put a lift kit on a neon and make it a minivan.

Sorry, I don't want to start a "fire" or anything like that but i have to call BS. A junker '82 z-28 would have a hard time beating a v-6 rustang convertible auto, much less a GT, unless he wasn't trying to race...in which you can't say you "beat" him.

Look out if you're driving with a girl in the car and you challenge the Tbird to a race. He may just stay at the light and take your girlfriend, haha, right.

Those things suck, a 3.9 liter V8 with 250 hp. 7 second 0-60 for 40 grand? no thanks, I'll take a nice new vette.

the big deal with the T-bird is the exclusivity of it...we had 19 at our dealership, all were sold about a year and a half before we even got one! Nice driving cars though, I do have to admit, not much for racing, but the do drive well.

Dont you just love those non-functional ram air hoods and wal-mart rims?
At the SEMA car show (pics at motortrend.com) they had a PT Cruiser with the Viper V10! But Chevy brought the Cavalier 220 turbo & 263 SS, and Corvette Tigershark (427 7L LS1 w 740hp/690ftlb!) & Magna Steyr kit. Pontiac brought the 540hp (300 shot of NOS) Firebird Raptor, and Saturn had the 300hp 4cyl SCX. Who said GM aint ready for the future?

I hate the new thunderbird. It doesn't look good; ford's just trying to cash in the success of the retro PT cruiser and to some extent retro new beetle. The thunderbird has no engine, suspension, looks, I don't know what it's good for.

As for that ad for the tbird, who in their right mind would watch that and think to themselves, "I want a thunderbird." I just love how he pulls away at the end like an old man, almost up to 5mph, whoa there!

The pt cruiser is cool. I like it, but in that way where I wouldn't want to own one, you know what I mean?

The prowler would be awesome, if they had a motor. I would love to have one and swap in something real. Forget that stupid jeep motor, it puts out like 235hp. Shoot, Ford can do better than that with 4.7 liters, lol! They had a show version (I think at LA show) that had an LS1 under the hood. Might have been lingenfelter that did it, I'm not sure. Anyway, that would be cool.

Don't worry, that comment didn't start any fire, since this is a T-Bird conversation. If I were lieing then I'd at least make my own message. Anyway, the camaro wasn't what most would call a "junker", but that is what we did with it after taking all of it's goodies, because of all the undercarriage rust from Michigan winters. It was a 4.6 GT that we raced, and the moron DID give it all he had. Hate to rub it in but I was not alone in the camaro when we raced- I had two friends in the car who witnessed this.

Thanks for the pic CHVYPWR! -Randy

Hey RedFirebird I didnt mean to offend anyone with that comment but look up a 53 vette sometime and you will see what i mean. To me the similarities in the front end are uncanny but maybe its just me

Regarding the future of the Camaro... it looks promising that it will be back in 2005, but the concept looks pretty crappy so far... do a search in apearance and detailing, somebody posted a pic a while ago... My only warning is that it looks like it's already been in a front end collision off the drawing board.
