Fast and The Furious
Fast and The Furious
just went and saw the movie this friday, and of course there was about a dozen imports parked in a line. So as i roll up, there is about a dozen domestics parked so i parked, went into the movie then got out and this is where the fun began. Route 72 in new jersey is one gaint straight away. So the imports took off, and so did we. Street raced from the lights for about an hour good fun i beat a civic and a ford probe gt. it was funny though, but i must admit those cars in the movie were sweet

Yeah man, I'm an domestic guy also. But that movie was sweet, it impressed me with the terms like "stand alone fuel management" (DFI). I mean I know it wasn't accurate but hey every movie has to have some Hollywood in it, and I thought they did well. It beat my expectations.
Hey 88, I live in Jersey too. Near fort dix and Mcguire afb. Do you ever go to Toms River and run. I use to, once i get my money situated I will be out there agian. Maybe you'll see me around. Or i will see you. I ride around with a bunch of guys, we go by nsr(NEVER SATISFIED RACING). A couple of cars have the stickers but most don't yet. If you are out look for us, most of the guys are pretty cool and will talk to you as long as you don't come off with the attitude that some of the import guys do. Please don't take any offense to this just telling ya. Hope I see ya around.
Afro iroc z, yeah i go up to toms river every friday and saturday night. What kind of car do you drive? i look out for ya. Yeah man we need some more third gens around there. there are too many rustangs and way way too many imports. let me know man, by the way my name is steve

I thought it was a good movie...
There were a few parts that had me saying, "yea right" but its a movie afterall.
The big street race that they organized in the begginning had me saying yea right, becuase they were accelerating to 160 for about half a minute, and staying at a steady rate of 160mph for about 1 minute... they would have covered MUCHO distance in that time! Exactly how long was that race???
Anyway, it was a decent movie overall. I am definetly a V8/domestic guy, but it was still a "high performance car" movie and thats all that matters. Entertaining.

Saw the movie a few days ago and thought it kicked *** . I think I'm going to get a Supra or an RX-7 and slap on one of those VeilSide aero packages - how sweet! Don't get me wrong, I just love my GTA, but I've always been a fan of imports (Porsche 911s being my fav car of all time). Did you notice that the Charger killed the Supra even when it used the nitro? Gotta love muscle - too bad it got banged up. I liked most of the ricers in the movie. When they are done up that much with that much care, they look sweet. I still hate Civics that have nothing more than a fart can and a few HP boosting stickers. Go all out or go home! I also wish nitro was legal in Canada - looks like fun!

Ah yes, but as we all know that when that charger fliped, and got a couple of scratches in the pain, can be fixed, and can be on the streets and wasting any car that comes along side of it.

I havent seen the movie yet, but an 18 year old friend of me has. He was thinking of getting a Honda after seeing the movie, then he came over to my place to wax his S10 pickup. He had never heard my Trans Am start up before, so I fired it up, and backed it out so that he could use the garage. The metallic rasp of the exhaust bouncing in the headers followed by the stutter of the cam made him go 'o-my-god-that-sounds-so-sweet!' and I think I've helped swing the pendulum back to the V8/RWD camp in his mind. Now I just need to finish off the roll bar and add another five-point racing harness so that I can offer him an incentive ride... Especially now that the 1LE brakes are grabbing so good!!

The movie was decent. The story was kinda like that flic w/Keano Reeves and Patrick Swaze, except there the "bad guys" were surfing beween robberies, instead of car racing.
BTW it WAS a 1/4 mile race at the begining of the movie. Although it took 2 minutes of film, I think it was one of the best movie portrayals of a 10 second time lapse. I wish there were some US muscle thrown in for some flavor.
I cant see myself putting 10-15K into an econo-box.Even if a turbo-nitro civic can get up into 10 second range, it's still not a cool looking car. With that kind of cash you can really make a 3rd Gen a kick-as$ ride.
Did anyone notice that in movies today, 3rdGens are "disposable" cars. They get crashed, demolished and overall disrespected.
I guess in another 10 years or so 3rdGens will be considered "classic" and will get some props(no pun intended) in movies. Until then, the are junk-yard fodder. But then again, Hollywood has no problem destroying 60s cars, today. Oh, well

I almost went to see that movie just because someone said there was an awesome seen of a camaro doing a wheelie. Then I saw the preview and said "That's not a camaro, that's a danged charger!" I'd still go just to see the charger and then look away before it flips(stupid movie trailers).
i wanted to slap the hoe that turned to her boyfreind right after the movie and say " see, you need to sell your car and get a civic or eclipse" then i saw them walk out to a very very nicce fastback mustang! dumb *****!

There was also a camaro in the movie Black Dog. They followed the truck that the main character was driving. They ended up totalling the camaro.

think about that first scene again...i agree that it was a great race scene, but at 160+, that was either about 7 or 8 seconds, or more than 1/4 mile...the et doesnt even come close to the mph...and i do know that there are different factors with et and speed, but at that speed, it cant be a 1/4 mile..

I saw it 6 times in the theater! (I got in free over the summer, had the hookup) I absolutely love the movie even though I dislike most all of the ricers in it. Go supra, though. That charger (probably actually a dressed-up POS) was so cool!
just though you guys might like to see one of the Chevys that freqents our little hang out. I used to have a 68, but I gave it to my sister and she creamed the rear end. There's a Orange Chevelle that comes out there as well with a HUGE blower too.
