52mm throttle body

How much will a 52mm throttle body improve the performance of a stock 5.7 tpi?

Spend your extra funds elsewhere.

Before trying to get more air into the engine you have to make provisions for getting it out, ie: headers, high flow cat, 3" cat back, low restriction muffler. Then you'll need to work on the intake, (TPIS bigmouth/ LPE), bigger runners, ported plenum, then finally a larger TB.

When I installed a 52MM Edelbrock/BBK TB on my Car....it made a very noticable difference. The throttle response soooo crisp...and the power is just right there. But along with the 52MM TB...I do have Ram Air Boxes, Headers, UnderDrive Pullies, 3 inch FlowMaster Exhaust.....all of those goodies...I would never say "they aren't worth it".....it's just that alot of the other bolt on's help and they work together.

thanks man

I know how far a stock 48MM TB will go....but...maybe my car is just a factory freak and accepted the 52MM TB? because..on the butt dyno...it helped out majorly. The only reason I went with a 52MM is because I got a heck of a deal on it....they are usually over $300 new....I got mine used for $150.00....half the price

The butt dyno very well might recognize a differnece. This would most likely be that since the TB blades are bigger they will allow more air in for an eqaul amount of movement, more air for eqaul movements means more power sooner.

However at WOT the engine will only require X-amount of air. On the stock or lightly modded setup I highly doubt the motor will out flow the 48mm TB under WOT.

I am not a "technical" person, so here's my two cents. When I put on my 52MM Throttle body, I felt the one of the biggest(IMO) increase in power of any other bolt on I had done. My car was finally running the way I thought it should. But like everyone else has said, I already did the exahaust, hand porting of the intake, injectors, pressure regulator, cam, ect. So lay the foundation and then get the throttle body. You'll be very happy you did.

You dont have to spend $300 for a 52mm, you can also buy a bored-out stock style TB if you want.
