replacement distributor?
what replacement distributor do yous guys recommend?
I've been looking in JEGS but all of those seem to be vacuum advance.
I need one that will work with my '92 730 ECM wires, and with the 3 wire connectors that stick upward into the coil cap. (tach/bat/etc)

MSD and Accel both make one. The MSD is part number 121-8366 at JEG's. The Accel is 110-60109.
If you plan to run the Accel Billetech, I would change the ICM to the later design Accel 35370 piece since you have a '92. Accel used to sell that distributor as 60110.

Either get a stock replacement or rebuild the one you have.
The MSD uses a Hall Effect sensor and you will have issues timing it. Unless your a hammerhead and jack your timing up to 12-14 degrees :-)
A few of us on the DIY Prom Board have had recent experiences with MSD Ditributors and all of us went back to a stock GM unit instead. The one guy who didnt had to jack his timing up to like 14deg initial and set the chip the same to make his read correctly. They have some type of phasing issue with the rotor/signal that is not there with the stock hei

Yeah I've had bad experiences with MSD ignition components so I don't think I'll be going with them. Accel looks like it has compatibility issues. So my best bet would be to go to Autozone and get a stock replacement?
Will that come with everything I need or will I need to buy other new parts with it? I'd rather not re-use any old parts in my old distributor that might be malfunctioning...

Also, I have an '85 engine / wiring harness, and a '92 ECM (730).
I know the distributors are different for those model years and this might be giving me error codes.

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams for the distributors for the '85 and '92 year models?
I also need the pigtail connectors for the second distributor if anyone has any extras....
Thanks.

Here's a diagram for a '92. I do not have a shop manual for an earlier mode to help you with the '85 harness.

Thanks. What kind is that? I think I mounted my MAP sensor to that bracket when I did the ECM swap. I'll probably have to move it. Where is yours? Anyone know where I can find the harness / pigtails for the coil / distributor? I don't think I have much chance of finding a TPI in a junkyard around here....
