vss different on t5/700r4
vss different on t5/700r4
Well are they different. I was just wondering because I am thinking about buying a wiring harness from someone and wondered if it would be worth it to get the sensor.
Thanks for your help

If you are changing harnesses for a tranny swap, then I would get the correct sensor for the tranny that you will have. Or you can do what I'm going to do and say F*ck it, I'm tired of this pile of crap 700r4 and I'm going to put a 6-speed in it and be done with it!!
Actually I would love to have a t56, but I cant really afford it. I am actually collecting parts to build a tpi motor and currently have a rebuilt 700r4 with a mechanical speedo. I am thinking about buying a wiring harness from a car with a t5. I was wondering if the vss would work with my 700.

Definetly wont. The VSS and the connector for it are different!

are you going from MAF to SD??
the SD uses a 4k pulse generator.
the MAF used a 2k pulse VS generator.
weve used generators for cable driven speedos
both 2 and 4k. just capped the output.
plus... there are gears in the tail and generator
to corelate the correct speed. unless you have
a VSS buffer.

Actually I am starting from scratch. I am building the motor and going with the speed density style tuned port. I know that their are gears in there that tell corolate with the rear gears, but I was wondering specifically if a vss out of a speed density 5 spd camaro would work in a (going to be) speed density 700r4, which I believe has already been answered. So I guess I will just have to get a different sensor. I just wondered if I could use the same wiring and get a new clip that matched the 700r4 style sensor.

Yep, just change the connector to match your new VSS in the trans, and you're good to go. The wires are the same color (purple and yellow) and go to the same place in the computer, regardless of trans.
