Dropping tank on QuickJack?

I am curious, has anyone dropped the tank for a Fuel Pump change on Quick Jacks? I need to install a bigger pump and being under there on Quick Jacks feels a lot more solid than on jack stands alone.

No, I do not wish to trap door mine.

My concern is it not being high enough to allow the axle to swing down and away enough to bring the tank out.

Re: Dropping tank on QuickJack?

I did the same in May. The quick jacks were great. Since I was dropping the tank, decided it was time to remove the rear suspension and replace the bushings, clean and paint, etc. The only trouble i had was dropping the exhaust. The PO removed the cat and welded the whole pipe from muffler tips to manifolds. Thus QJ interfered with dropping the Y-pipe and rest of the exhaust as a single piece, so I had to transfer the cars to jack stands and drop the QJs while the pipe was dropped. As long as you can unholy your exhaust somewhere, you'll have it easy.

Here is the link to my rear suspension job (erroneously titled "Front Suspension").

Re: Dropping tank on QuickJack?

If you have the quick jack already, you might want to get the SUV spacers, that would give you a little more lift, but I think it should lift high enough without the SUV spacers

Helped my uncle install an engine into his VW mini-bus from underneath. He bought a set of those SUV spacers and they gave the extra height that we didn't have when we removed it last year. They are nice, but I had plenty of room to drop my rear diff and gas tank without them.

The OP of this thread reported doing this job on a Quickjack.
