I'm going to be putting in a new clutch very soon, but.....

What kind of clutch should I get? I don't really want some piece of crap from Autozone or Napa. I need something that will actually last quite a while, and take some abuse at the track and on the street. Anyone have any luck with Centerforce? Are Ram clutches any good? What do you guys think? Which clutches and part numbers are you guys using?

The car is a 1990 Iroc/Z with world class T-5.

Thanks,
Brandon

All of these are high quality? Does anyone know anything about SPEC clutches? Or should I just go with the dual friction Center Force?

Well im pushing about 310hp and 395 lbs of torque on my motor, and used Autozones clutch. So far its holding up. With only traction issues i hit a 14.4 at 94mph. Its a whole lot better than my old Zoom multi friction clutch which only lasted about 9 months. Plus autozones clutches are lifetime warranties

Im running a SPEC stage 2, its holding up rather well. I have stock 305 with mild mods. and 4.10 posi rear so traction is an issue. But the clutch works great i would recommend it to anybody. And centerforce is garage, if you want to replace your clutch every month then buy a centerforce.

I recently put in a SPEC stage 1 clutch (maybe 400 miles ago) and I can say there's a noticeable improvement over stock. I clutch seems a little snappier and to grab stronger on engagement, and it held a burnout through second one cold night which my old clutch (stock) would've never even came close to doing. No matter what you choose check out thunder racing ( www.thunderracing.com ) they've got good prices and great service. Good luck.

I hate to beat a dead horse but i love my Centerforce dual friction, it has the light pedal, linear engagement and locks up super tight, i can chirp gears effortlessly. I have about 5000 miles on the one behind my 383 and it is a pleasure. Very few people have anything bad to say about centerforce, ad i have tried many others when i had my LG4 but i came back to the CF with the 383 because i found it to have the best feel, drivability and lock up

vortech305 i dont know how yours is holding up, but i put an autozone clutch in my car and when i got on the gas it slipped you'd hear it rev but she wont go, i replaced that piece of crap with a centerforce df clutch and now i have no problems, i love this clutch feels like a woose but when you get on it it comes alive.

I've had nine different clutches in my RS.
Currently it's got a CF Dual Friction, and it's holding up well almost a year after putting the 300hp 350 in.
TO bearing is making a little noise, but clutch is still fine.
I hear nothing but good things about SPEC.
Probably try one of those next.
I've also had good results with McLeod and Zoom.
Zoom Powergrip was a little harsh, but worked well.
