Looking to put braided lines for the tranny cooler, parts info needed.

My friend and I are putting LT1's into our Trans Am's and were looking into using steel braided lines for the tranny cooler lines.
We'll be using aftermarket tranny coolers on both cars.
Any advice and parts to use for this project would be very appreciated.

You'll need a pair of 5/16" I.F. to -6 AN adapters for the transmission fittings, and another pair if you're keeping the radiator in the circuit. Aeroquip has them but I don't remember the P/N. You'll probably need about 10 feet of -6 hose and 4 -6 AN ends if you're not using the rad and 6 -6 ends if you are. If your cooler has NPT fittings, you can get NPT hose ends from Earl's instead of using adapters.

you can get lines made with the correct flare fittings with out needing to use adapters. look in the yellow pages under hydrolic hose and have a set made. way cheaper then buying an parts and line from a speed shop and way cheaper for the same parts.

Thanks, we'll look into that as well since we need to have P/S lines made too.

I get my hose and fittings from an industrial supplier. Prices are typically anywhere from half to a third of what the speed shops charge.

Not really, I just use the local guys down the street. Like Ede says, any hydraulic shop should be able to make you the hoses, or get the parts if you want to make them yourself.

Thanks for all the tips. Once we start to tear into the car, we'll measure the length required and have it made.

Another thing, he is using a B&M Tranny SuperCooler and it has screw in fittings for the inlet and outlet. Anyone have an idea on the thread size that's on it? It's the 11" wide unit.
