Only 1st gear slightly late or grabby??
Well I got the engine running really good it was spark plug wires It’s got power when I punch it l. I’m kind of confused I don’t want to damage anything, I don’t know how to explain this. Can only the 1st gear shift be slightly late from a mis calibrated governor or too tight tv cable. I have my tv cable self adjusted and I put a new governor gear.

Re: Only 1st gear slightly late or grabby??
It seems that the light part throttle before going into first is a little late. I can feel and hear the engine rev higher but i don’t have that deep low speed 1st gear off the line like I remember. I’m totally lost now I’m even afraid to drive it any further , please I would greatly appreciate some help. I don’t want to start having to pull the thing apart again!!!

I hear that the band could be a little too grabby when new until they break in

I think I may have mistaken wot for the movement of the throttle by my hand on the linkage. I pushed the linkage all the way by hand until it would stop. Maybe I should of used the pedal inside the car

Well I went back and adjusted the cable by WOT with the gas pedal. It now shifts very good, nearly identical to my old transmission
