No aftermarket chip will ever be as good as a custom chip you have burned to the specific specifications of your car. No two souped' up cars are exactly the same.

Yes because it doesn't do anything to MPG or help any on the Dyno.

devianb, 100% correct

Also no "hot chip" is worth a damn with out the "hot CAM" to let in the extra fuel mixture.

All it does is mess with the air intake tempature making the car think its colder out so the computer pumps out more fuel. I did that to my car didnt make a real difference i cant remeber what ohm resistor i had on the car but i read it would make the car think it was like 20 degrees outside or somethin like that.

It's up to you, me i just get a new air filter every year, why waste your time trying to wash something.

There is no "extra air" because your air filter thats in your car now is sized for your engine and then some.

Umm that "CHIP" they are selling is nothing more then a Resistor in a pretty box.

Did you read it "Modifies inlet air temp"? Yeah, $37 for a 30 cent resistor in a pretty box.

Well, some people don't know as much about cars, which makes them suckers if they buy a product like that. I have a K&N filter because I don't have the airbox anymore. Just replacing the filter with the stock airbox will not make that much of a difference.

The K&N's don't produce any 20+hp, but I believe they do loosen up your intake a bit. Well, if you've got a ram air dual snorkel intake, that is... The flow much better than your standard paper air filter.

The difference between a K&N air filter and a paper filter is that over a longer peroid of time the K&N will flow more then the paper filter. But a paper filter will flow more air brandnew then a New k&N the paper filter just gets cloged faster.

the JET product requires that you change the thermistat in your vehicle, adding another $50 at minimum

thermostat=$2 so labor =$48
so if thats true, your paying $100+ an hour for labor. Makes no sense to claim something outrageous like that.

Modification
Underdrive Pulley
AEM Cold Air Intake
JET V-Chip
Single Ceramic Header
Cat-Back Exhaust
Turbo/Supercharger
Next Level G-Box
Est. Hp Gain
8 Hp
8 Hp
10 Hp
5 Hp
10 Hp
100 Hp
10 Hp
Retail Price
$100.00
$200.00
$270.00
$175.00
$400.00
$2000.00
$65.00(Intro Retail Price)

whens the last time anyone paid $200 for an intake or $400 for a catback? Lots of headers can help free more than 5 hp.

All this is trying to do is make eager buyers think that real products are expensive ripoffs and that this expensive ripoff is a real product.

I mean, how can you compare this thing to a JET chip????

"High-Heat Signal Correction."
makes the engine air seem cooler....can you say resistor?

what kind of real man would pay a shop to change a thermostat anyway?

that was the first thing i fixed on my car back when I was 16 and had never even seen an engine before.

I did it myself too, although I changed my thermostat the hardway. It took me 6 hours because I did not remove a single engine component. A shop would have charged me $110.

Heh, I wish I sold r!cer parts. ALL of those Honda guys spend at least $200 for their "Cold Air Intake" aka a shiny pipe with a filter.

Plus their exhuast "upgrades" are pricey too.....and they still pay for it cause it daddy's money.

Check this out: http://leader.linkexchange.com/1/X1351960/showiframe?

$250-$315 for a frickin pipe.

Won't that mean that more dirt is getting into your engine if the K&N isn't stopping it.

per my camaro performance book
a K&N will get you a .12 boost in your ET time in the 1/4
air filters come in two types
paper or foam
paper traps the dust on the surface while foam traps it thoughout the filter allowing it to breath better longer.
also foam filters don't swell in heat and humidity.

and no way does a K&N give you 20HP.....

K&N's are lame. Plus every Suburban/ Tahoe owner has one....WHY?!?!?!?

Also, everyone ignores this, but K&N filters are not recommended for use on MAF equipped cars.

Last summer I was talking to my cousin who goes to UTI about K&N filters. He told me that they put K&N filters in a brand new Firebird, Camaro, and Mustang and put the cars on a dyno. He said that there was only a 2-3 hp gain in each of the cars. He told me that he ended up taking his K&N filter out of his 92 Camaro because he saw how much dirt was getting past the filter.
