Magnitized Dissy Shaft....

Well if u have seen my other post, i have had my car in the shop for 3 weeks having a friend of a mechanic look at my car to try and figure out why when ever i try to accel it hessitates and has absolutly no power. He has checked fuel pressure, replaced most of the ignition components, but never really got into my distributer. he now comes back after this time and had consulted with a GM Dealer mechanic, turns out in rare situations that the dissy shaft can actually become magnitized and mess up the way the ECM sees how the motor is operating, and thus taking out spark, and/or Fuel.

Anyone else want to comment, i know i dont have all the facts listed but any input would be great, new part goes on in the morning, and ill feed back if that really does the tric

This is a very interesting subject. I would be curious to know exactly how this actually happens. Is it do to heat and possible a certain grain or makeup of the metal on some shafts when produced?

As far as i know its not going to be heat related and not grain releated, heat just becuase electrons are particually effected by the temps that a motor could make let alone a shaft that is being lubed with a cooler liquid being oil. I will deffinitly let u guys know if it fixes the problem, but if i dont get back with a replay tomarrow, its probly becuase i got the car back after 3 weeks and ill be out enjoying some of the better things in life

Its sleating now,
Parkinglots in the morning will be ice till afternoon

Do they make some out of aluminum? I guess that would be a good reason to get one out of that type of metal, other than some wieght savings and rotating mass aswell. Hmm i wonder if i can find a cheaper aluminum shaft for my HEI set up on my 350

Should be easy to check. Pull the Dist and see it metal sticks to it.

had not heard of that one! For me it was too much endplay. Once it was shimmed the backfire and hesitation was gone! Ran like an new animal!
