UIM porting ideas - sandblast ?

just a thought as you cant reach deep into the plenum, could you sandblast it from the throttle body mount. surley it will then get fired through the plenum the same way as intake air and whittle away and open it up alittle inside ? i dunno just popped into my head ?

I dont think that it will stay even enough to do any good. If it does remove any metal I would think that the rear most runners(5 and 6) will have the most removed.
The inside isnt the biggest problem...the worst part of the intake is the bend from the UIM to the MIM.

the bend hurts it pretty bad,but its also the fact that the plenum volume is also very small.but u cant do anything about that short of building a new upper

I have a post from a while back regarding some porting i did in that big bend between the UIM and MIM. Do a search under my name and "porting" and youll see the flow bench numbers that i gained from porting that bend. It wasnt anything amazing, but it did help.

there ya go

i did notice it helped push it a couple hundred RPM further before it falls on its face, lol. honestly, since it was free, it was worth it. if i had more time to work on it, i could have gotten more out of it, but i was in class, so i had to have it done by the end of the semester, so.... yes, if you can do it yourself, its worth it

What you are referring to is called "extrude honing". A regular sandblaster doesn't have enough pressure or volume to remove enough material to make a difference. It actually takes a special machine for the process.
