Heard of people using it, but only on serious high-dollar drag cars. It looks sweet, but is pricey and seems like way overkill on a stock v6.

wow thats exspensive as hell and really not anything special except for the fact it may plug into the stock harness
for around 300 bucks u could just do a megasquirt,or u could just get all the stuff u need to burn chips for the ecm u have now

i was just asking because my local speed shop dont have any experience with the megasqurit system. they use the other all the time. and can u use the megasqurit while the engine is running to tune?

megasquirt has all the features of that haltech and alot more.
yes megasquirt is real time tuneable
u can pick up a complete ms1 system with a harness for 311$'s from diy autotune
12x12 fuel and ign maps dual tables nitrous injection and just all sorts of features are built into it

if u run it piggy back (fuel control only) u will need an extra air temp sensor and coolant temp sensor.
if u do full ignition and fuel control u do not need to buy and extra sensors

so all i will need is the ms1 wire harness system to run the fuel and ignition and the turbo stuff? does it plug into the old harness then into the ms1?

no when u buy the harness it plugs into the ms1, then it runs out under the hood and u have to solder the connections, basically u cut the stock harnes and take it out and solder on the conectors onto the ms harness.
its really easy to do
