Re: How to add Horsepower to a 2.8 V6

You could pull the motor put it on a wagon and have some horses pull it....haha....do a search in the v6 board. There are THOSANDS of threads about how to get more out of our motors. Good luck and happy tuning.

Re: How to add Horsepower to a 2.8 V6

Go into the sticky posted "aftermarket parts for 6/60 motors" and pick your poison.

After you pick one, search on that part and see peoples responses. While a part or company may be listed, the part may be crap or the company is un-worthy.

Re: How to add Horsepower to a 2.8 V6

You have to decide what you want to do. Are you looking to take it to the strip, have fun on a Saturday night or just wake it up a little? Also, what kind of budget do you have and how many miles on the car?

Start with a good tune-up. Beyond that, as has been said thousands of times before, Cold Air Intake, free up the exhaust with a Cat Back and perhaps headers.

Beyond that, you are into a real build and need to decide what to do about intake - are you thinking hybrid, what about cam, pistons? Or how about a 2.8 stroker (uses a 3.1 rotating assembly)? You could also just get rid of the 2.8 and use a 3.4 as a base for a build. Did I mention budget? I probably spent about $3500 to get to about 190 hp and I did everything except the machining myself!!

See where I'm getting to? What do you have in mind and what is your budget?

Unless he did a very junkyard turbo set up, I have a hard time believing that he got those numbers on that budget.... real hard time.

Or motor swap and he's trying to be coy with us, making us believe he still has the 2.8.

Re: How to add Horsepower to a 2.8 V6

He said he spent that amount and got that hp/tq on his 2.8, so no engine swap.
