The obvious questions are: if it worked why wasn't the TB designed that way in the first place? If it worked why doesn't everyone have one?

Re: Throttle Body Spacer for a 2.8 v6
If you go by that logic, how come our engines didn't come with the better flowing aluminum heads from the factory? Why is the plenum rediculousley small? Why did they choke the exhaust with log manifolds?
Fact is, GM wasn't too concerned about power with these engines... Im not defending TB spacers, just saying the best interests of the manufacturer aren't always the best interest of the driver...
I personaly would try these before I did a TB spacer:

My point is that it's so easy, cheap and simple if it worked it would be widely used already. None of the stuff you mention is any of those things which is why GM did what it did. If the spacer worked GM would have hailed it as the greatest mod ever and sold it as an expensive option.

How is putting more room between your TB and intake manifold going to give you more power is what I would like to know...The only thing it will make go fast is your $.

As I said, I am in no way defending the use of a TB spacer. I believe the theory behind them is solid. But real world application, more often than not, doesn't necessarily line up. But the notion that if there was something simple GM could have done to these engines from the start to make them better performers, GM would have done it, is just preposterous.

If they did things like that, cars would have factory cold air intakes with cone filters, and tubular exhaust manifolds from the factory. Of course another factor is that most of the people buying fast cars shouldn't be buying them cause they won't drive them fast anyways, and these people are picky about things like more noise from the engine bay, which most of us performance oriented guys would probably prefer. But unfortunately, even performance cars for the most part are built for the masses....

That is definitely not worth the $45 they are charging for it. You wont really gain any power and throttle response will be negligable. plenty of better places to drop $45. Avoid it.

TB/carb spacers work by increasing plenum volume, It works in TBI/Carb applications because the plenum volume is so low.
In a TPI/MPFI setup it's completely worthless. Yes, you are increasing the plenum volume however you are not increasing the port flow of the plenum runners. There will be zero power increase from this.
