I could be totally wrong about this man . Think it could be the wiring ? ...By the way , the man you wanna talk to about the "3.4 swap boogie" is KED85 . I think I just told you Karl .

Knowing how to do the 2.8->3.4 swap boogie, you must get lucky and find it in the old threads.
Search for the "2.8->3.4 swap boogie".
Switch. Disconnect the switch harness from the steering column. It down there, under covers and such.
Then figure out which wires in the harness are power & the turn signal part. Then jump wires, using a paperclip. IF turn signal operation returns, column part is bad. PROMISE!!
And it may end up being your turn signal steering column harness in the column.
GM does that, ties all signals/lights operations thru the steering column part. EXCEPT headlight operation. Hi/Lo beam is in the column, tho.
I have to replace that unit on my 1974 Corvette & my 1968 Camaro.
Both of those turn signal switch units are worn out. I blow fuses & loose brake lights because of those two worn parts.

When you turn the signal on do they just stay on solid? My left signal did this.
It turned out that the plug in for the light was worn out. The parking lights were fine too. But the signal would not flash. So I went ot a junk yard, and got 3 or 4 of them for alike $5 took it home, cut the old one off, and wired on the new one. Problem solved.

It could POSSIBLY be your turn signal switch.
If you turn signal on and the and it just stays solid then it could POSSIBLY just be the flasher . Sometimes the turn signal and the hazard lights are on differant flashers, but im not sure on the f-bodies because I have never had to change one on them.
Sorry but I see now that you say the switch is fine. How do you know if it is or not if the turn signals are not working

WayneRS did you reply to the wrong topic. Because this topic has nothign to do with the 3.4L swap... just wondering, hoping this might clear things up, cause I had no idea what you were talking about either.

Yeah Wayne you did have a good point about the wiring, you dont know what some people do when they are working on electrical problems . Sometimes they just grab a handfull of wires and pull
.
This guy must have just had a bug up his a$$ or is just clueless about electrical stuff.

Alright, i've seen this before and the flasher needed replacement. It's under the dash near the ALDL connector and it looks like a little silver cylinder. It has 2 prongs that are perpendicular to each other.....not parallel like your average home appliance.
Shouldn't set you back more than ~$8 from a parts store.

turn signals...
thanks for all the replys......
ok, i installed a new flasher, i have tried another switch," just in case i got a bad one at the junkyard" . i went easy on unpluging the connector on the column, i would think the wireing to the bulbs are all ok, becasue i turned on my flashers , and all lights including the side marker lights flashed like they are supposed to.
when i turn the switch on, "to the right or left" nothing.. .... no lights on the inside or outside.
oh wyane,
sorry about before, frustration factor 9 on a scale of 10.
it just seems like i have checked everything.... twice and it doesn't make sense.
any help will do............

Have you changed the fuse in the box?
You have basically cut the ground, somewhere.
Where?
I mean if your flashers work, the wiring is good.
It's the turn signal wiring.
Electrical gremlins suck.

Well I just had a brain buster.
The problem with your turn signals can be linked right back to the ignition switch. That would explain why your hazard lights still work. The turn signals need the ignition switch to be on to operate. The hazard lights dont.
Believe or not I have seen this before, but a long time ago on an older car, and the problem was the Ignition switch. (Not the lock and tumbler , but the switch itself)

thanks for all the help. i went to the junkyard one more time and they didn't have any good ones in any camero, so i looked around some more and found a pretty new looking one in a citation" is that how you spell that?" anyway, it worked. i grabbed 4 bad switchs out of cameros. they all looked good, but were crap.

and are the turn signal switch and flasher the same part? Just different names?
