high beam question
high beam question
I know this sounds like a dumb question, but.....
When you flick on the high beams do all 4 lights come on or just the 2 highbeams. I am wondering because only my highbeams come on (lows shut off). Basically I am wondering if my switch is shot.

Nope, that's how it works. You can buy a kit that will let your low beams stay on. I know JC Whitney sells it, I assume it's sold in other places.
omg, finally, tom p makes a mistake. this is like 000000000001.
On the lights
the outer (low beam) has a low and high beam filament
the inner (high beam) has just a hi beam filament.
look @ your wiring, the outer has 3 wires going to it, one for ground, then one for the "low" filament, and one for the "high" filament. the inner light has 2 wires. the "ground" and the "high".
if yours lights up like that, either the "high" filament is burnt out on both, or someone cut the wire.

i had the same problem on drivers side..side esp after rain...
it stopped when i opened the connector and cleaned the surface of the connector in the sealed beam...
yep in high beam all 4 light up (ie low beams 2nd filaments and high beams filament)

I guess the kits I was thinking of are for the two-bulb (one bulb for both high & low beam) systems instead of the four-bulb?
yup. same on fourth.
actually, it's the same on ANY quad-light sealed beam system. My/my girlfriend's '94 grand prix has quad sealed beams, and it does this. however her old '90 grand prix had composite lights, and it functioned the way as newer cars do, i.e. high beams on, only inner bulb is on, or if "1" bulb sytem, the high filament.
Tom, how old are you now? I remember, when I first got on thirdgen.org, I thought you knew everything, and I coulda swore you were around 19-20. and now I'm @ that age, and I feel I know as much now, as you did then, but I still gotta catch up, but it's no fair, you are older.

Hehe; I was just telling my dad that the other day; how I've got all this f-body stuff floating around in my head, and how I better write it down somehow.
That's what I get for putting 230,000 miles on my car! (There's nowhere I haven't been.) I'm 25... well, I guess by now, 25 1/2. Ugh.
