Ronal R15 questons
I bought Ronal R15 wheels for my TA. I did search but did not find exactly what I was looking for.
1) How big spacers do I need?
2) Will I run into some problems with 275/40 both front and rear?
3) Whats the biggest tire size I could use without problems?

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I have 275s front/285s rear no rubbing. But until your backspacing is determined, we won't know if you will have any problems.
Biggest tires used can only be determined until we know your backspacing. Until then, its all a guess. Get back to us with a measurement on the backspacing & we can go from there.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I'd be willing to bet they are available in more than 1 width and backspacing.
You didn't even say if they are 15", 16", 17", or 18"....Or other....
My Snypers are direct fits. Snypers coulda been had in 8"
& 9" width. In a 3rd ge or 4th gen backspacing....Meaning there are DOZENS of combinations.
I was just trying to help....

Re: Ronal R15 questons
You could be right but I havent heard they came with different backspacing. I am talking about the Ronal R15 17x9.5 wheels, the same that where on the Firehawk (and some say they where designed for the third gen).
When I was searching some said that they didnt need spacers and other talked about thin spacers.
I know you where only trying to help and took no offense in your reply, I hope that my reply whas not offensive (it was not meant to be).
I wont get my wheels home untill christmas, I want to order the spacers before if I have to buy them (it takes some time to arrive) so I hope I will get some answears.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
If they are the Firehawk wheels, I would think you'd need nothing. The stock Firehawks needed nothing.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I have Ronal R15.
I use a 5/16 spacer on both fronts because the tie rod touched slightly on one side only.
The Firehawks had Brembo brakes (I think it was) which is why they may not have required spacers.
I have BFG KDW 275/40/17s on all four corners w/out problems. The fronts rub slightly on the plastic fender liner but nothing to worry about.
AFAIK R15 are the correct spacing for our cars as they were pretty much designed for thirdgens.
Some came with spacers some didn't. I got mine from SLP and they didn't pack the spacers so I had to buy them.
Good rims and look good on our cars - only thing is that they're slightly heavy and somewhat limited for brake upgrades. 1LE will fit, probably C4 and I guess the original Brembo setup.
Maybe Ed has figured by now which brake setups can be used.
I would say max on the front unmodified is 275/40/17.
I would also suggest getting 275/40/17 on the back so you can switch them with the fronts after the backs start to wear. I believe this size on all four corners is about optimal for the car anyway for road course use so same should apply to street although drag racing is another matter.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I wonder how they compare in weight when compared to, say ZR1s and 2" spacers. I'd really like to get a set of 17x9.5s that don't require spacers. But then, I'd have to get a 3rd Gen rear end with posi/disks lol.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I bought them from the Ronal place over in Huntington Beach and I was told that I didn't need spacers and I was ready to go. I do get light rubbing on the front as well but the car handles so much better. And if you don't have one yet on your car, get a "wonder bar".

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I researched the R15 waaaaay back when. From what I've read "on the record" you don't need spacers. ...."off the record" several people report minor rubbing.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I need to make a correction. I ended up getting spacers for the fronts as they were rubbing on the steering knuckle. Got it done when I had the car alligned. Turns out if you have the 1LE brakes, you don't need the spacers as that system sticks out more than the stock system our cars came with.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
My experience with the R15's... Since I haven't done my brake upgrade yet, I had to run a 5/16 spacer, along with grind the tie rods and front struts to clear. I am running Tokico Illumina, and they were close so I clearanced them. When I upgrade to 13" Wilwood kit, I don't think I am going to need to run a spacer after as it pushes the wheels out a bit.

Re: Ronal R15 questons
I'm really not too sure how I feel about the Ronal wheels anyhow. I got a good deal on them and decided to get them until I find something I like better.
