Re: compression ratio and nitrous?

:yup: Also don't forget to step up to race gas or use octane boost depending on the amount of the shot. Make sure the fuel system is up for it too. Don't get too greedy either, if you pay...

Re: where to get a 2 and 1/2 inch hood??

I've got a Harwood 4" outlaw cowl hood on my 86. They make good hoods. Nice finish and they are pretty stiff for fiberglass. At 100+ it starts to get a little shaky though.

Re: 400 sb

If you decide to use different heads on your 400 remember they need to have steam holes drilled into them.

I've also heard that 2 bolt 400 blocks are stronger than 4 bolt blocks. something about...

Re: hughes converter not impressed

I haven't had any luck with B&M converters, neither have my friends. I had a 3000 stall in my camaro for 2 months and smoked it, I ran a 2000 in my mud truck and smoked that too. My buddy went...

Re: BBC 650hp combo ?

:iagree: 496 with a roller cam and a good set of heads should be able to get you there. Then you can watch your driveline scatter across the road
Scat, Eagle, and World Products all have...

Re: collapsed lifter?

Just a thought but did you check the spring and guide clearances? Stock Vortec heads are pretty limited on lift. Not sure how big the cam you put in is but you might have a clearance problem. I...

Re: My project... Suggestions needed.

I run modified vortec heads (Manley valves, cut seats, race valve job) and a Crane cam on my 355. For the $$ I have in it, the motor is pretty mean. I had it in a mud truck and its going in my 86...

locker

I run a Richmond lock-right in my IROC after I gernaded the stock gears/posi/bearings. I ran it for a summer and didn't have any problems. It makes the odd noise every once in awhile but from what...

Mileage

not really related to anything in this thread but I had to laugh about all the gas mileage related comments. Got me thinking about how my daily driven dodge ram gets around 10mpg on road. I get...

Vortecs

I am in the process of putting modified vortecs on my mud truck right now. I have 98 Vortec heads, 3 angle competition valve job, and Manley valves. The accesory holes are there. I'm using...

CR and Pistons

If your going to be running a blower you need to go with a low CR like 8-8.5:1 depending on what kind of a setup you want to run. Forged pistons are a must also if your planning on actually using...

mileage

My IROC has a B&M Transpak in it with the hard shift kit in it. My mileage went down a little, but I've still been getting 18-20 mpg easy. Its only a 305, but I'm not nice with it at all. It does...

balancing

Your right about balancing, which adds a bit to the cost ($150-$250) and hope they don't have to add alot of weight to the counterweights, that gets very expensive. But with a 383 you use a 400...

Whats the point of a earth turning lope when you can't back it up? Thats a good sized cam for a 350, the 305 will be a dog. No low end power. It'll make lots of noise and be slow as hell. You...
