Do not under estimate a 305. I only have an open element, 3 IN. cat-back, and the engine base timing is advanced 4 degrees. It throws you back in the seat. Barely hit the gas and the wheels spin....

With the gas you want to run, advance in incriments of 2 deg untill there is pinging, then back it down. (You will have to test drive it to hear the pinging.) That will be your best advanced you can...

Take a look at the y pipe again. It goes from 3 in inlet to 2.5 in out. I would use one with 3 in and go 3 in cat back. I have read good things about the headers listed but no personal experiance...

I manually got engine to tdc and the mark on the balancer was lined directly with 0° on the tab. The rotor was pointing at the #1 plug wire also. Maybe my light is on the fritz.

Yes and been running fine as normal, I wanted to adjust timing today and ran into this. New balancer has been on a few weeks. If timing had been thrown I would notice.

I also have an AC compressor, canister, and some lines.
Compressor works great, was not making any noises either.
Lines seen and canister in great shape also. All taken out of 89 RS 305

Thanks, I do know to be careful of the crankshaft. Who would of thought the key would be so much more trouble than the balancer.

Any advice on how to get the old key out? Tried pliers and vice grips and they just slip off because there isn't much to grab. The thing is getting chewed. There is no edge to pry with a screwdriver....

This metal piece was just laying in the box with my new harmonic balancer. The balancer was sealed in a bag. Is this supposed to slide into the alignment grove? It does fit the grove. The old one did...
