Running the stock L31 350 Vortec cam with 1.6 rockers puts the lift around .450, well within the limits of a stock Vortec head.

If you are going to change the cam then pick the cam with the specs...

No, my heads have dual bolt patterns so I can run center bolt or old school valve covers.

The design of the valve covers I have expose part of the lip of the sealing surface but they don't leak....

With the setup you have, stock cam + 1.6RR should put you in the low to mid 13s. Vortec heads use self aligning rockers.

I've ran 2 350 Vortecs with the 1.6 roller tip rocker and didn't have any...

The 1.6 rockers are well worth it but you will have to do the ".550 lift mod " to your Vortec heads as your lift will jump to .496.

Do you know what years? The only thing I could find was 1996 G-Series vans over 8,500 GVW w/ 4L80E transmission had a TBI Vortec motor.

Sounds like a needle in the ole haystack to me.

Check Craigslist. I bought a 4 bolt main Vortec 350 with 50k miles off of Craigslist for $150 then added 1.6 rockers, headers & intake to replace our dead 305 TBI. Now she'll run high 13s in 1/4.

Your cam choice depends on what you want to do with the car & its driveability then rear intake/fuel, gears/torque converter need to meet the cam requirements.

Stock Vortec heads can't handle...

2 of my installs were self aligning 1.6 roller tip rockers so I didn't have any issues with the push rod holes on stock Vortec heads.

My other install was with an aftermarket set of Vortec alum...
