a ? about modifying the sfc's (bolt-on)
Can someone who's done this give me some help here...I've got the comp.eng. bolt-on sfc's and I'm wondering how bad a hack job the pass. side gets to allow the y-pipe clearance.. Is the cat.conv. out of the question now? .. Any pics greatly appreciated

Decided not to use them. I'd rather not cut on them, but pass them on to someone with full length headers... They are new with hardware if anyone is interested... Competition Engineering sub-frame connectors #3111. $175 and $40- $45 to ship I guess (very heavy duty). can send a pic if your interested ..

my friend has them in his formula - they are surprisingly good and stiffened up the car unbelievably, but we had to modify them to clear the y-pipe - not the convertor.
Now he has the SLP headers and y-pipe in the car. The end where the angle is put in them is, we had to extend the angle. that was all we needed to do tomake them clear.
I say you make them work, they do a great job and they can just as easily be welded in to make them even better.
if your nearby to ct, i'd be perfectly willing to modify that spot to make them clear everything with no problems!

well i'll have to try and get a pic - he has the SLP y-pipe and like i said, he has ample clearence now.
basically all i did was extend the portion of where it is angled all the way to the end of the SFC (towards the front of the car)
this provided a ton of clearence, altho i will say, we did have to push the outer tube flat a bit from trying to get it to clear with out modding the sfc...
good luck, i'll try to get ya a pic - get back to me via PM sometime

Ah-Ha! unuderstand better now...will look it over again..Yeah, I guess there where I extend it, it will have to be half the width cause that y-pipe is small enough as it sits....will check with you on a pic later then...preshadit

no problem, just remind me - got a lot goin on right now!
its really easy to do tho if ya got a cutoff wheel and welder and some flat stock... those were the only tools i used!
anyways, it makes it so the sfc tucks up against the floor pan and angles down to bottom - it left PLENTYof clearence on his setup, so i think you'll be good to go!
