Throttle cable and bracket for a Holley carburetor

I was wondering what people on here were doing for a throttle cable and bracket for their SBC Holley carbs? I have a 600cfm Holley 4150 mounted on a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake on my 305. I decided to try using an L88 air cleaner (that has a lot of drop) to gain hood clearance because I'm trying to cram this under an IROC hood. I'm concerned if I use the (Holley) 20-88 bracket that Holley recommends it might hit the underside of the air cleaner base because it looks like it's offset up just a bit. I've tried a stock 3rd gen throttle cable bracket and it won't fit on the Performer RPM manifold with rebending it radically, not to mention it doesn't look like the stock throttle cable comes anywhere close to lining up with the linkage on the carb.

Thanks for any suggestions or input.

A drop-base air cleaner won't make the carb any lower. It only allows a taller filter to be used...

Where did you get that I want to make the carb lower because I never mentioned that? The only way to do that is with a shorter intake manifold. I'm not stupid.

I got the idea from this:

It won't give you any more hood clearance...

Compared to what? I don't think you don't know what you're talking about. Please leave the thread if all you want to do is argue or try to make others look bad. Life is too short to spend arguing with someone online (or in person).

This forum is useless. I think this is the last time I'll post here.

I definitely know what I'm talking about.
What did I argue about??
You make yourself look bad.
Good riddance...

Re: Throttle cable and bracket for a Holley carburetor

I used the top part of my TPI throttle cable bracket and made and welded a piece to it that mounts to my intake. As far as the linkage/cable hitting the bottom of the air cleaner you will probably have to try it and see.

Re: Throttle cable and bracket for a Holley carburetor

I have an aftermarket aluminum throttle cable bracket, one of those cheap aluminum ones that attach to the 2 carb studs and has double springs on it. I used a throttle cable from a TBI engine if I remember correctly. I can use a regular 14" air filter but I don't have hood clearance issues as I have a cowl hood.
