ALDL interface for SD?
ALDL interface for SD?
Has anyone successfully used the two transistor ALDL interface with the speed density computer?

I've had no problems using either type of cable on the '730.
What connection problems I have had, have normally turned out to be a problem with the laptop.

Mostly OS-related, port settings either in windows or the bios. Sorry for not being more specific, but it's been a long time since I've had to work through those problems.
I had one old Compaq LTE that I could never get to do squat for scanning, unless brought up on a pure DOS boot.
Also had another old clunker that I think lacked full voltage to the serial port, it'd work with the extra 12V power plug attached to the max-232 cable.
Another Compaq that would work on a Windows boot to dos prompt, but not when running windows...never did get the serial port to work right with W98 running; and I'm not sure why. Never worried about it too much, since I had other laptops available -- that one ended up on my ECM bench and is mostly used for Moates' ECM program, which is DOS-based.
Other laptops have never given me any trouble at all with the same stuff. FWIW, the ones I've had no hassle with happened to be Panasonic and Digital brand machines.
Can you try a different computer?

I'm working an issue with my 8192 setup with Tunerpro RT, Win98.
With the '165 160 baud datastream file, it shows connected on Com2, when in actuality it's not, whether hooked to vehicle or not, it shows it connected and monitoring, but no data. Allows me to record, etc., but no data.
If I change it to 8192 baud in the settings, I get "could not initialize port". If I change port back to Com1 (in tunerpro) then I just get the failed connection error.
I went into device mangler, and made sure that all the infrared junk was disabled. No setting for it in the BIOS I could find.
Haven't had a chance to try it on the vehicle yet, but with the cable now testing as "good" through tunerpro's test on the same Com port, I have high hopes.
