Need assistance with connecting to ECM via laptop
Need assistance with connecting to ECM via laptop
Just got my cable from Craig M. and downloaded TunerPro RT software. However, can not get it to connect to ECM. I installed the USB driver that came with cable CDM Setup auto install, but can not get it to talk to ecm. I tried 10k setting and open settings on cable. I have Windows XP and trying to conect to 1990 IROC. Thanks for the Help.

Have you down loaded and installed the proper ads file?
Re: Need assistance with connecting to ECM via laptop
Yes, using ... \TunerPro RT\DataStreams\1227730.ads. Cable I bought was the rs232 to USB which I think is the issue. driver issue or software config issue. Anyone else using this cable from Craig's site and TurnerPro RT software? If so, what drivers and software config are you using?

It sounds like you may have the wrong items.
Did you get the ADLU1+CABL1 combo, or just a USB to serial converter?

Yeah I have the ALDU1+CABL1 combo. It's straight ALDL to USB though, no USB to serial converter needed.
I'm running code $59 so my ads is a bit different, than what you'll need.
I used the drivers that were on the disc that came with my moates.net equipment.
I haven't had much luck with the ads you have. There should be a better matched ads to the bin file you're using.

Do you have the black box with the switch (10k and Open Positions)? I think this is the convertor, not 100% sure though.

Yep, that's exactly what I have.
You likely need a better ads.
Also you need to assign the proper com port for Tuner Pro RT to communicate properly.
Do a search on here to find out how to do that exactly, I've posted how to a few times now.

Figured it out. The chip inside the box needs a driver installed which comes with the software and then you need to configure the software to the com port that you plug it into.. ie..laptops have several USB ports (Com2-X pending on hardware configuration. Works great when installed correctly.. Com1 usally is for 232 port in the back not all have this though.
