Got a 1988 Pontiac TransAm GTA... LB9 replaced with a 350.. cam, heads and intake work. But having undercar clearance problems due to the car being lowered by 3 inches in the front and 2.5 in the rear. I searched thru a little bit and seen that everyones been pointing towards the Mufflex Y-pipe but not sure if installing that will hinder my already limited clearance under the car. Anyone dealing with the same problems? Any input would be greatly appreciated

someone has not been reading up before they did a project. look on the exhaust boards and you will find hundreds of ways around your little problem.
you cant do something at least 50 people have not done before so research like crazy and save yourself a lot of problems.

While I don't have headman LT's (I have the Hookers), I still had to come up with y-pipe solution. I ended up getting a custom y-pipe made then mating it to a mufflex 4 inch cat back.

Demon - Thanks. The lowest point is where the y-pipe bends around the frame/tranny crossmember. I'm still kinda playing with my ride height in terms of springs and wheel diameter. Right now I would guess 5-6 inches? The car is actually up in the air so I can't measure it. Its a spintech muffler that comes with the mufflex system, single 4 inch in to two 3 inch out, similar to the stock setup.

87Camaro - Thanks! Well, I would say the car is sorta lowered. The front springs are the Moog Iroc springs with half a coil cut off. The rears have a half coil cut and the isolater removed (due to the 9 in. rear). I'm still playing around with things.

Re: Headman long tubes and not much clearance
I'm not sure if you can get tucked up any tighter than this.
The OEM crossmember has been modified to use up every inch of clearence.
Those are hedman headers and the car is lowered.
