Re: LY6 carnage

I have been trying order DSE front control arms since black friday first company that had the best price was tick performance. So after about two weeks of not hearing anything I called to find out the order was on hold because they didn't want to honor the price and wanted me to pay extra so refund was issued. Next company to give me the run around was speedzone based in Florida. They had the next best price but after a few more weeks of back and forth emails of them saying they cant get into touch wirh anyone at DSE about the order I figured it was time to call dse for myself. They picked up the phone almost right away and checked on my order and say the arms are built and coated just waiting the bushings to get machined so they said a week tops. I emailed back speedzone and told them the good news only to have email me back the next day saying they are no long a DSE dealer and sent me a refund.

Since this years mission is front suspension im going to be doing most of the QA1 stuff and seeing if it holds up and hopefully offers a serious improvement on the autox and a road course as well this year if we can make that happen. Still need to order k-member and spring sliders asap..

DSE parts are proven nobody can really question that. I got the QA1 struts and CC plates and now snowballed into their K-member and a-arms with the 850lb frame slider kit. What sold me was I heard or read that their was a slight geometry change with the frame sliders over the factory coil spring which to me means a chance at improved ride qualify and handling. So far all the parts I have received look great.

Re: LY6 carnage

Looks expensive lol. When I did my moly kmember and UMI lower front arms can’t say a huge improvement. A lot of room with the kmember tho. Def shave some weight tho.

They sure look good though. That may be the way I go. Do you think it is better than a coil over set up?

For how I use my car this should be better than front coil overs. Adjusting ride height doesn't look as simple as the weight jacks but other than that its pretty impressive stuff.

And this k-member is lightweight 21.4 pounds that bare no mounts or bushings installed just straight out of the box.

I bought Spohn coil overs and literally mocked them up on the car and sold them before even running them. I don't like the way the coil overs place the stress on the upper strut area. These cars front and rear suspension is designed to run the load/weight of the car in certain areas. Same reason I didn't go with coil overs in the rear as well. Weight jacks are better in my eyes. I haven't really had to touch the ride height either but I also don't race where constant adjustments are needed. Front weight jacks is a simple 1/2 extension on a 1/2 rachet and bobs your uncle.

In the middle of buying my grandparents house so progress has been slow. I did get to weigh the koni strut vs the QA1 and the koni was 13lb vs QA1 7lb found that to be interesting.

Re: LY6 carnage

Do you think this will give room for a low mount AC compressor. Living in the south AC is a nice thing to have.

Re: LY6 carnage

K-member went on without any issues but engine mounts didn’t offer near enough adjustment to keep my motor in the same place best guess the qa1 stuff wants to set the engine back another 1” farther then my hooker mounts. I wasn’t in the mood to mess with all the headaches off moving the engine so I cut the engine plates off the posts at the weld and mounted and fit everything in the car and tacked the mounts back together and removed them to finish weld.

Missing a small part from qa1 for the springs sliders so waiting on that to come yet but it’s getting closer to being back together again.

This checks out as the hooker mounts intentionally move the motor forward an inch. Starting to come together...

Re: LY6 carnage

Back for a winter update since this past summer was lost to mostly remodeling the house. Main winter mods will be ati dampener with a 9.45 lower pulley for more boost. I needed a trunnion upgrade so going to try the btr rocker arms as well. Other then that the exhaust is getting completely redone cause I think the dual 2.5 is a huge restriction at this time but it’s still in the planning stage at this point but it will be getting dual 3” valvetronic mufflers to tame the noise.

Re: LY6 carnage

Curious to what your plan is to mount those mufflers. I need something different for my dual 3" and I've though about something along these lines. I've never heard of this company before but these mufflers aren't too terribly large.

Re: LY6 carnage

I got a few ideas but most likely I will be doing something similar to my kit car build years ago. Which would involve cutting a few inches out of the bottom of the trunk if need be so they tuck up under the car.

Just doing some test fitting for now but that driver side fits like a glove but not so much on the passenger side.

Re: LY6 carnage

Originally the plan was y-pipe into a 4” single then split it back to dual 3” at the axle but I found a deal yesterday on the speed engineering 4th gen kit. So that’s on the way and I’m heading to NY for the next few days. When I get back I plan to cut the bottom of the trunk out and go from there. Now does it need cut out probably not completely but it would need notched or even notch the passenger side spare tire wheel well area.

Basic rough idea of what I’m going for but with a different filter design and angle.

You'll for sure need a filter 2X or more the size of that one. I gained 13rwhp by swapping from a similar filter size to a massive K&N.

13whp gain is huge thats awesome. Just me getting it outside of the engine area should hopefully get me a few extra hp. Goal is 750-800 whp but might be asking to much from the small cam.

Re: LY6 carnage

Progress so far has been slow going but getting closer. I need to put in an order for some pipe bends to connect up to the headers. Center mounted exhaust is a serious option at this point.
