Throttle Body

I want to upgrade t.b.'s. should i use the turbo city high flow, or the holley 670 cfm throttle body. which one of these would be better if i am going to build a 350 and bolt my tbi setup ontop of that. thank you

If you are going to a 350 than the Holley 670 would be great. but it is to much for our 305's. The turbocity one looks like your best bet. Also you can get a 454 off an old truck but I would spend the $ on the turbocity one because it is new. They have matched injectors and bigger bores. and they look good to. I think you have to send them your old on though...don't you. Hope you don't need your car for a week or so.

Oh by the way, what other mods to you have. If you are keeping the 305 than spend the money on other stuff right now. You won't need more fuel unitl you have intake, heads, cam etc.....

I upgraded my TBI from Turbo City. I was going to use the Holley 670 cfm at first but when I talked to Holley they told me it would not work on an automotive application because of the programming difference between the cars and trucks. That one is designed to work with the trucks emissions settings.

LOL. Sorry, I have to laugh, but don't listen to Holley when they say crap like that. It's just to cover their butt. You can use the Holley and it will work just fine with our cars. Maybe not in this situation, but just to clear it up, they are compatable with our cars.

wait a little bit before buying either. Im pulling off my 454 throttle body and putting the 1 11/16 one back on so that when i get my prototype made soon i can flow all 3 of them together. I wont have flow #'s on the holley or the turbo city unit, just the rochester 454, and the smallblock tb.

Im not kidding people, im going to build you all the best damn throttle body youve ever seen. I go to the machinist tomorow, (after rounds of phonecalls setting up a meeting again) to talk costs, and time frame.

Im in touch with a lawyer who is going to get my set up with a limited liabilty company, and I have friends in the patent office who are helping me thru that route. All this should come together by the end of the summer. So i say, seriously, if you can, wait to buy any unit, because mine will be the best.

All this talk about TB's. The Holley Unit is a 454 unit modified a little. The injector tower is a little different and they use cheaper injectors than GM and turbo city. I do like the idea that I can adjust fuel pressure while the car is running (holley 670). One thing that was a pain in the *** was the connectors. You'll need to do some custom wiring for the TPS and injector wires. I'm just happy that it's 2" bore, large injectors and feeds my 350 enough to get great gas milage and good performance. Gotta love the fact that the computer automatically calibrates the TB injector speeds unlike carbs.
Can somebody post the differences between the Turbocity, holley, and GM 454 unit. I'd like to see detail pictures and explinations.

Snuffy, I would be interested to see flow numbers of a 1 11/16" tbi before and after ultimate tbi mods.

well, i have a torker2, so thats what it will be on if im the one testing it.

but i dont think i should test it on my 305, since i dont really need a bigger tb. I am however thinking of getting a new engine, its a money issue right now. i also have a few modded and one supercharged 454ss guys ready to test for me. so, whatever they got, is what it will be tested on.

ALSO, my machinist does other racing work, spacers etc.. he has a friend that has an engine dyno, and i could probably have him throw one on one of those cars, i just need to get a spare ecu etc.. those are cheap though.

o, and i also figured i would just have the throttle bodies flowtested alone on a bench too.

It's the wiring harness/sensors and all that other non-carb crap lying around the dyno area that the dyno guys don't like... Until you give them a Sausage McMuffin w/Egg, that is. Then, they live with it.
