Ram Air Box

http://www.ramairbox.com/home_page.html
Just curious if anyone has tried this yet with their air filter assemblies. I have a K&N 14x3 drop-bas filter assembly right now and I am looking to make my ASCD Ram Air hood functional and I think I might be able to do it with this Ram Air box but wanted to see if anyone else has tried it.

The car ran faster in the summer with it (100 degree track temp) In the fall the car ran better with just the open element.

I plan on getting the K&N lid and fabricating a base to seal the lid to the inderside of the stock cowl hood.

I would really like Hawk's Ram Air Hood... looks like it would be pretty effective and looks a little more stock than a 4" cowl hood.

I run one...I have the non-drop base 14X3 dual snorkel model. No complaints and it gave me 2 tenths and a mile per hour over an open element K&N. Only problem I had is you have to clearance it because it hits the distributor. Other than that it was $ well spent.

yes, it would be nice to have a functional ram air with mine, too bad Eric bit off me and bought the same hood. j/k .. lol

I was thinking of making a dual snorkel with my old filter assembly and "borrowing" my friends from his camaro and cutting the snorkel off his and welding them in. Then getting like dryer ducts from home depot, but then it still using the stock sized element.

Thats a weekend project, but itd be nice to buy a ram air kit and use the 14" assembly

I almost bought one from the ram air box people. But I decided to go with the dual snorkel. Have it at home now and will be installing first weekend in April. I also got it chromed. Can't wait to take a few pics.

Check out this thread for another possibility. It's a lot cheaper than ram air box's too.https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=92935

LoL, careful. I was one of the first people to have that hood on a thirdgen on this board. Me and Josh91Bird I belive were the first ones. But anyways, I had a guy over on Aftermarket Vendor section tell me that him and his engineer buddies were gonna design a ram air system themseleves and if I was to hold off a little bit he would give me all the info I need.

ANd yeah I looked at that guys setup and I REALLY think its a great idea but I just don't like the looks of it.

Where did you find your dual snorkel? I've been looking for one for like a month and I can't locate one. Any suggestions from anybody would be good.

Gunny,

I got mine from IROCZDAVE. You can e-mail him from thirdgen. I think he still is an active member. He also has his own website.

http://members.***.net/iroczdave1/

E-mail him and see if he has one available. The price will depend upon the condition and what he can ge it for. I paid $120, but it was in EXCELLENT condition.

Give him a try.

Good luck.

Bill

couldnt you go pull a dual snorkel off a truck at a junk yard somewhere?? why pay 120$? just buy one off a junk truck...but another tube and intake thingy (techincal term) from a third gen and repaint the dual snorkel and there you go...would probably only cost you 30 bucks if that
