This smell is nasty YO!!! I can smell it when i first turn on my car which is cold and only on the weekends (not a daily driver) and after i stop somewhere and i go to start it again i get that smell in the vents only for a couple of seconds. Brand new Cat, just pasted smog with flying colors too.. I put the best gas which is Cheveron (Premium)... Any Ideas???

its the new cat they all do that. in time it will go away. take the car on a nice long highway run to get it real hot that will speed the process.

How's your timing? Try using a lower octane fuel or even a different brand- it sounds like poor combustion. Also, what's the condition of your catalytic converter?
btw, anything above 91 is un-necessary on these cars. The compression ratio for an LO3 is 9.3:1, and I've never had problems using 87 and even 86 octane in it.

My timming is at 0 but im going to put it at 6* cause it likes it there. Then i have to use the High Octane cause it will ping. But I never had the problem of that smell till the new cat came on. I ll just take it out for awhile and get it nice and hot.

But still, running leaner will help heat that cat up faster.
