beat a WRX
beat a WRX
i was at rankin in houston over the christmas break and since nothing was racing but imports i thought i would show em some real power. as im waiting in line this asian guy in a WRX next in line to me asks if i wanna run him. i was kinda scared at first, but then i said, yeah what the hell. well when we get up to the line and the guy flags us, sure enuf, that damn car launched like a bat outta hell, like no wheelspin. so rite of the line he's got a half a length on me. i shifted to 2nd, and started catching up, and eventually edged him out by only like a 1/4 of a length. rite after i ran his friend in a lightning and got my *** handed to me.

Nice one, those things (if tweaked) can run in the 13's. He would have had to launch at about 4000rpm and just dropped the clutch though
I think the US versions are down on power than the ones in Japan though, but still a definate notch to put on the drivers door

D@mn thank *** ya got him. Even though being light, those things produce their 227hp at like 6000rpm so I would imagine you would beat him. But they do have all wheel drive, and that can really launch wit dat ****, unfortunately.
--ZZ42Fast, how are those SFCs ya got? How they compared to Spohn's?

Those things run very low 14's stock (If the driver knows what he/she is doing). Good kill! It must have been fun to look in the window as you were passing him. Too bad about the lightning...did he have any mods?

With the Lightnings, the superchargers vary depending on certain trucks. I've heard nearly silent ones, and then I've heard ones that sound like roots blowers, just quieter. Good kill on the Subaru. I've been using my moms 2002 Impreza, not WRX, and in the snow that thing gos like hell, wether forward or sideways.

I saw a WRX at my local tack run 14.4, and it was a chick driving! She beat my friend in his 2000 Z28 convertible (he ran a 15.2 due to bogging on the line, and 1st-2nd shift wheelspin). Boy, we still havent stopped making fun of him for that one! His tires are bald and he hasnt really learned to shift yet, but so far he has managed a best of 14.2. But anyway, those WRXs are actually quite fast. If you have a 3rd gen, and its not modded in some way, look out.

some little chinese/japanese guy at the parts store actually imported over a Japanese spec WRX motor and stuck it in his older Subaru (mid 90's impreza RS style). I asked him how fast it ran, and he said, "13.8 with wheelspin". Wheelspin my ***.. it's got AWD. Funny thing is, my friend Karl Hunter was there when this conversation took place, and Karl put his "wheelspin" theory to rest. So, I'm not impressed with the WRX at all.
I'm running mid 13's with nearly bald tires, BAD wheelspin (first time drag racing). But I know that with proper traction, 3.73's, and practice, I can just break 13. So, bring on dem Subarus!

Watch out for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII coming to US shores in 2003. 0-60 in 5.0 seconds for $25k. My next car when I get the cash. Check it out at http://www.motortrend.com/nov01/evo/evo_f.html also, expect Subaru to counter with the WRX Sti, a beefed up version of the WRX which will probably post similar numbers.
