Bad news for us.

Have you guy's heard what Ford has done for the Mustang, in 2003?
4.6 litre supercharged, with aluminum heads. Get this!!
390 hp with 390 ft lbs torque.
Those things are going to fly!!!!
As if this town isn't already infested, with hotdogs. It's gonna get worse.

People on the net have posted some pretty quick times for the new Cobra. I've seen reports of mid to high 12s bone stock. What is worse is that they say the car loves mods, and there are reports of a few hitting the 11s with nothing more than exhaust, an air intake and a pulley swap.

Only good thing (from a F-body standpoint) about the new Cobra is its price. Its supposed to come in just under C5 prices ($47,000 i think, could be wrong on that). That should keep them somewhat rare, although i do see plenty of C5's around.

If these cars get any quicker, I might have to get a liter bike!

I'm thinking, one of the only ways to compete, is with nitrous.
Only problem is, getting the power to the ground. It's bad enough now.

So a new cobra R is like close to 50K out the door here in the great white north. SO if I had the money I would get myself a 2000 ss for lets say 30 k, add a 6000.00 supercharger and go cobra hunting(they do make and LS1 style supercharger right?) So 347 hp + lets say another 100hp with the boost, thats 447hp enough to beat fords snake. As a plus no exploding gas tank to worry about, just a hump in the passenger side floor.....

Yeah. That would do it

I don't know if there's any truth to this, but I read that the Camero was coming back in 2004.
Has anyone heard that?
Also, the firebird is being replaced with a mid engine Lotus knock off.
Guess time will tell.

not worried

The 'new' Mustang is so high priced that you won't see many of them. Sure people pay $60k for a C5 but it is after all a C5 and won't rust.

The new blown Mustang ran 12.6x according to Fast Fords mag. They ran it off against a 2002 SS which ran a low 13 something and they marvelled at the 1/2 second diff FINALLY the Fox is outdone the f-body. But I had to laugh this was NO contest. The SS was $20k less CDN and the Mustang was dressed up in a blower. Maybe GM will build a low production 2004 SS with a blower making 450hp and goes Viper hunting. Does that make the SS better than the Viper ? Well around and around it goes.

Oh yeah GM Hi Tech mag did a 1/4 on a 2002 SS with slicks and they pulled a 12.80. I wasn't impressed with the FF mag drivers and wonder if they slouched on the pedal at all for the SS runs ??? Well, when Ford builds a n/a Mustang that keeps up with it's counterpart in a Camaro or (defunct) Firebird then I'll congratulate them and not before.

Oh yeah did I ever mention I used to have a Mustang ? But I can't talk about it much I get too angry recalling what it cost me to buy it, keep it on the road and how much I lost getting rid of it.

adious,
RP.

So how much is this Rustang NoBalls to buy in Canada? I remember a sticker price on a Camaro SS of $45,000, which is pretty high. If the Cobra is the same price, or around there... then Ford has GM beat, only because of the damn Supercharger.

BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT

This is a SVT Cobra they are testing.... shouldn't they have used a SLP Firehawk against it? Since SLP is GM's equivlent to SVT.... Hmmmmm

They're comparing a dual cam supercharged 4.6 to a single cam 350.

I think they should take a dual cam LT5 ZR1, slap a supercharger on it, then pit it against the Cobra. What do you think the outcome of that would be?

i know this is an old post, but hey, I've been on vacation.
