Re: Clutch Replacement

This will probably get moved over into the "transmission" forum, but I'll take a crack at it anyway. What mods are you planning? Unless you're really going BIG on your mods, just a normal stock replacement from a reputable aftermarket company is really all you need. I've always been a fan of Hays, and NOT a fan of Spec. Other than that, you'd have to do your research. Again, no need to go crazy on a clutch. ...and unless your racing for dollars, it's always better to go a little TOO light duty on a clutch, rather than TOO heavy duty. Weakest link is gonna break, and the trans and engine are both expensive to fix. Might as well be the easy to fix, cheaper, part in the middle! Also remember you can always call one of the companies as well, tell them your mods and see what they recommend.

Re: Clutch Replacement

+1 on the move lol however ive been running a luk clutch in my car for over 4 years, daily driver and i beat it up, like....mercilessly when i get the chance lol throwout bearing has finally started humming, oem style clutches are good for oem cars, simple as that, if you go for a spec clutch....thats a tad bit over kill lol look for like luk, zoom, autozone/ oriely clutches

Re: Clutch Replacement

Go with a stock clutch. A performance clutch will tempt you to engage power at higher RPM's and the end result will be a damaged transmission. You have to baby a T5.

Re: Clutch Replacement

take my advice with a grain of salt, yes they CAN hold up but it will only last as long as you let it, Abucaca is 100% correct id rather have my weakest link be the clutch than the transmissions, t5's are not the worlds strongeest tranny, WC or not. In my experience ive seen them take some abuse, but that takes away from the overall life
