ok i found a rear end with some richmond 4.10 gears in it. the rear is a posi with less than 2k miles on it. i got a really good deal on it but i just want to know, is 4.10 too much for the street or is it not that bad???? btw its going behind a 355 and t-5. thanks in advance

Depends on the 355.

Personally, I think you'll like it.

If you had a 700R4 the gearing would kill your top speed and your gas mileage, but with the T-5 it should work great. You'll have to get your speedo recalibrated too, it;s really going to throw that off. You'll love the gears though.

my personal opinion, if the 355 isn't built, that it's gonna be annoying because you'll run out of powerband really fast, but it will feel really cool when you accelerate and decelerate. that and your gas milage will go to crap. trust me I know someone who has 4.10's, you would be better off with like 3.42's or 3.73's, since you have plenty of bottom end torque with a 355 you could make 3.42's scream.

just my $0.02

4.10's are sweet in a 700r4, and even better in a T5. I used to chirp the tires from a stop with both leaving at part throttle from a stop light.

well ideally id go with 3.73s but i got a great deal on a built 10 bolt with 4.10s. (140$) so all i want to know is, will it really hurt me or can i still drive around town and be ok? also, whats the RPM gonna be like at about 70mph?

btw- my 355 is built from the pan up. 194in/177ex, lunati cam, high comp 11:1 pistons, etc......

You'll like it.. my T5/3.73s give a massive launch when you want them to, and a 4.11 will only be a harder launch

How much duration on that cam at .050, and is it a roller?

if you have over 224*-230* of duration @ .050 i would say go for it.
anything less, and you'll shoot right over any useable engine power with 4.10's, 3.73s would be pushing it.

not that it wouldnt work, but for such serious gears, your motor has to love to spin.
